Sam Amick @sam_amick 1m Rockets will get New Orleans' first rounder for next season in exchange for Omer Asik, I'm told.
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA Houston is finalizing a deal to send Omer Asik to New Orleans, league source tells Yahoo Sports. Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA New Orleans will send a future first-round pick to Houston for Asik, league source tells Yahoo Sports. Deal will give Rockets cap space.
So they traded Lopez away last year for nothing, only to give up a first rounder for a player of similar caliber a year later?
A first-rounder who is in the final year of a contact that will pay him $8.3m. Houston much think they have a shot at James, while New Orleans clearly has no clue what they're doing as a franchise.
I'm aware you can't speak to free agents until July 1st. Seems like a pretty crazy move when thinking about doing it just for a chance to chase. Especially when they could have gotten much more for him last off season...
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA For the Rockets, this is Step 1 in clearing the cap space to chase LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony in free agency.
If they have to get another superstar, hopefully it's Melo. He doesn't help their biggest problem, and they just got rid of a guy that actually played defense.
I don't think so. As much as I don't like Lebron he is a superstar player that could play with anyone in the NBA or on any team and not have a decline. That is rare to say about a player.
what a weird fucking thing...i think their GM might have been the only guy in the world who thought that was a good idea
I really doubt this stops teams. Always seems like teams are tampering behind the scenes but never get caught.
