Well, I disagree simply because I think someone like Shaun Livingston would be great next to Dame. But with the addition of Livingston, we would have to find scoring somewhere else. I would LOVE to add Livingston and Stuckey to our bench.

Since I'm not a huge Mo fan, another option is to use this as a S&T for other teams that are over the cap, but under the tax level.

CJ, and a starter. Put Will in for Wes early in the first and 3rd and bring Wes back with the 2nd unit as a SF around the start of the 2nd and 4th. Or take Nic out early and slide Wes over while bringing Nic back with the 2nd unit. With the taller Livingston, CJ can guard the back up PGs. He will replace Mo's scoring while we get better PG production from Livingston, which in turn will help players such as Trob also score more.

Probably a limited amount of "buyers" for sure. It would have to be a team that: - is over the CAP, but under the tax level. - wants to use the MLE on another free agent. - BAE is not available or they want to use it on another free agent. - needs a backup point guard. Memphis is one team that looks like they are over the CAP. Since they just signed Zach, and did not offer Ed Davis the QO, they will be a bit under the TAX level. They do not have the BAE available this year. They have no backup point guard currently on their roster. The only options they have are the MLE, S&T, or vet min offers. They currently have 3 shooting guards on their roster: Courtny Lee, Tony Allen and Nick Calathes. I'd take Tony Allen ($4,831,461) back in a S&T for Mo if they were up for that. They would balance their roster a bit by adding depth to the PG spot, and cut about $1.5M of salary to be able to better use the MLE without going over the tax level.
Im not to dissapointed if mo returns and we dont get another PG. None of the ones on the market really stand out and id like Livingston but Livingston cant shoot the three to save his life and thats big for us especially if we have two other non shooters on the floor at the same time. Chalmers would be an upgrade over Mo defense wise but is a worse shooter and passer and there is real concern on if he could actually run a team or a bench unit.
Which starter do we get rid of? I'd rather keep Batum and Wes but I could see an argument for getting rid of one of them. There is zero chance Ariza could be a backup behind both those two from a playing time or payroll perspective. I'd love to get Chalmers as a backup PG but that stat is very misleading. Its due to the Heat team defense with Lebron. Chalmers is a good defender but he isn't holding guys to a PER like that on his own. First off no way Chalmers starts in front of Beverly, he's a hero down there. If Houston doesn't get a star why would the want another PG with Beverly, Lin and Harden all there? Sheesh, the minimum? I know he has declined but that's surprising! There are so many damn PG's on the free market this offseason tons of guys will be available after a few weeks for near minimum contracts. I'd like to see the Blazers grab another position with the full MLE. I'll be shocked if he makes less than $9 million a season. Half the teams have major cap space this offseason and there's hardly any starting level available free agents. He likely makes $12+ million a year. We'd probably have to give up a starter and a future first round pick which is a terrible move. Only if he accepts a contract starting just over $3 million. So we can give him about $10 million over 3 years. More than that and we have to use our MLE. Yeah I think he goes for more then the MLE but if he were willing to take it I'd bite. Not sure if I'd want to do a sign and trade because then he'd be on our cap for a larger contract and we'd have to give up some sort of asset. At that point I think we'd be overpaying for a bench player so I'd pass. Definetely an option worth thinking about though. I'm a big Livingston fan... but with Stotts offense being so reliand on 3 point shooting I think he'd be a bad fit here. He worked best in a small ball lineup with Paul Pierce at PF shooting threes. Here he'd have one or two of Lopez, Trob, Freeland in the game with him. I hate to pass on Livingston but it'd be best for us get Collision or Chalmers if we had the pick of backup PG's. There could be quite a few of them. Miami, Indy if Lance leaves, Chicago, LAC, Golden State.
I'd be very disappointed if Mo was brought back. I think Jameer, Shaun Livingston or Ramon Sessions would all be better options and cost the same, if not less.

He costs us part of the mle. Resigning Mo doesnt necessarily cost us the mle or bae. And the fact everyone on the team loves the guy. He will be back
