Hearing a sign & trade package deal involving Detroit's Greg Monroe and N.O.'s Ryan Anderson has been discussed.

Why the fuck would Detroit do that? I thought they were trying to move Smith to PF? And what about Anthony? Isn't he a PF?

Yeah, that's right, they just traded for an expensive Asik. Weird.

    I thought New Orleans had
    (a) already agreed to acquire Asik, despite not having the cap room to absorb him, and therefore
    (b) were desperately trying to clear cap room

    How would this be possible?

Well then what do you do with Smith? Stay at SF?

Some Orlando reporter was also saying Monroe was the reason why they cleared all of their cap space. No wonder Detroit wants to get a deal done, they'll lose him to Orlando for nothing.

Three teams, in fact, have quickly emerged as serious bidders for Monroe, according to sources close to the process: Atlanta, Orlando and Portland. ESPN.com

So ORL could sign him outright, but both us and ATL would have to do S&T? Is that correct? Any rumors what ATL is offering?

Also, what's Monroe's max look like? Is it one of those 5/60 deals? Or is it more?

Can only be 4 years, not 5. But I think that's roughly it.

Atlanta has space also to sign him outright.

That's all I got as I check around for rumors.

Pretty sure you have this analyzed right. I see Monroe being in the drivers seat . . . "trade me to Portland or I sign with Orlando". Falk and Olshey like each other and if Monroe wants to come to Ptd and Ptd is willing to pay, they can figure a way to get it done.

I think the biggest hurdle is if Orlando wants to offer more money than what the Blazers will offer, Monroe (and Falk) are likely going to go with Orlando . . . and I don't want to see the Blazers get into a serious bidding war with Orlando.

    Max is around 13.5mil.

Detroit doesn't necessarily want to lock into max money on a guy yet when they are still trying to figure out a core. Druimmond and Monroe are not a great match. But Monroe and Aldridge would be dang good together... and he's only 24 so he and Dame could be a new core going forward.

    Do it! Monroe @ $13.5m and 23yo > LMA @ $20m and 28yo.
So much flexibility for building this team if we obtain Monroe without giving up a starter!
