I'm nearing the end of my Galaxy S3 and I'm thinking about getting an iPhone for a change of pace.

I've never owned an Apple product. I like my Galaxy S3, but I'm wanting something new.

Anyone own a 5s? Have you owned an Android phone? How do they compare?

Obviously the Galaxy S5 has some impressive specs. It has a better processor, it has a better camera, and the micro SD function is really nice.

Is the 16gb phone big enough? I can get a 5s for $100 but it only has 16gbs.

    My girlfriend has one. GARBAGE.

You should really wait until the next batch of phones comes out. I can't imagine needing to upgrade my Note3, I am laying in bed surfing the net without my glasses and I am blind as fuck.

It is provided by her employer and I seriously thought about buying her a different phone. It is just worthless.

I just bought a special edition Gold Samsung S5 yesterday. I am still trying to tune in all of the settings, but I can tell it is going to be amazing. Works faster than my computer basically.

It is tiny, you can't change shit on it. No back button, how people can live without one I will never know. No widgets, app store constantly saying her password is wrong. Did I mention that it is tiny?

I can get a new phone any time I want using buzz launcher. Hers looks the same every day.

It is also prone to what apple can't or won't fix. The glitch where texts to android users take hours if they get to them at all. Her employees have androids too, she can't trust it to get texts to them.

I could go on and on.....plus it is tiny.

I love my iPhone. I find it easy to use and intuitive. I don't like my pockets being weighed down, so I like the size. Wish it was even thiner.

I think battery life is the next technology that needs to develop . . . waiting for a iPhone that I don't have to constantly charge.

If you don't use any apple products and you are PC everything, you'll probably hate it. Its just easier if you have more mac stuff. Integrating photo syncing, document syncing with Apple docs, etc.

Simple things like attaching a document to an email, you really can't do, its really stupid in that regards. Its easy to use and all, but Androids are better if you're used to it.

I have a Galaxy S4, the MAIN reason I stay with it is because I can replace the batteries (especially on the go) and save photos and videos on an external card. Iphones are very simple though, easy to navigate and stuff like that. I have an Ipad I use and I like it.

Yeah, the external mini-SD cards are a huge advantage. Just another example of Apple gouging their customers because they want to be able to market the phones as 16/32/68 gigs and make an extra $200 on the phone.

As someone who just went from iphone to android last year, dont do it! I had the iphone 4s and Im sure the 5s is way better but its still an apple and you are still locked into their system and app store. Android is just so much more flexible in what it can do, and Ive never once had to buy a an app on droid, iphone apps will nickle and dime you to death.

I got one from work earlier this year. It's a HUGE upgrade from the 4 year old blackberry I had been using. I can't really complain about anything really. The build quality is top notch, it feels good in hand, the small screen is not my favorite, but not horrible. I'm just not a fan of iOS, so other than for work calls/emails, I don't use it. My personal phone is a Nexus 5, which works great for me. It really is up to whether you like iOS or Android better. In my eyes, the newest iPhones and any of the flagship Androids (M8, Samsung S5, LG G3, Nexus 5 and Moto X) are more or less the same. They all have their pluses and minuses, but none are bad and none are much better than the rest.

Off the top of my head:

iPhone - Pros: It works well. Camera is the best overall. Only Cons are just personal preference
Galaxy - Pros: Removable Battery, SD card (though this has some issues), good overall camera. Cons Touchwiz (for some, others love it), Samsung bloatware (I read something that said the average user is in a Samsung app for only a couple of hours a month).
M8 - Great build quality, best low light camera, Sense6 is supposed to be really good. Cons: Mediocre daytime camera, poor zooming capabilities
Nexus 5 - Pure Google experience Android, first access to updates to Android, Cheap ($350 for 16gb, $400 for 32gb, unlocked and contract free). Cons: Camera is good, but not great (much better now than it was when it first came out). Battery life is just ok (though the next version of Android is supposed to have vastly improved battery life).
LG G3 - Pros: Super hi rez screen. Huge. Cons: Huge. I don't think this is out yet, so I don't know much more.
Moto X - Pros: Most iPhone like experience (the just working part). Always on display for alerts. Cons: Camera, old (should be replaced in a month or two)

I have an iPhone 5s and the Galaxy S5. The iPhone 5s isn't much different from the 4. It's okay and has all the typical Apple formats, of course, which I am so comfortable and used to. It's a solid phone, not too big even with a cover.

The Galaxy is a rad phone. Way more phone, exciting..... good screen size, great picture. BUT....... the phone is pretty damn big, especially with a protective cover.

There lies the problem with the decision for me. Bigger screen and more fun stuff means bigger size. I can't even put a cover on my iphone because it becomes even bulkier to me. I hear the galaxy is a great phone.

iPhone 5s is a huge upgrade over the 4. You get 4G/LTE and much faster graphics and CPU. Everything you do with it, except phone calls, is way faster.

It is an issue 6 months from now when you don't get your phone updated.

Look at how fast the M7 and Galaxies got updated. It was within a couple months (except some Verizon ones, cause they are the bottleneck).

    From HTC
    http://blog.htc.com/2014/06/htc-advantage-google-io/
Even if it takes 6 months, what does it matter? If you want the latest OS, get a Nexus or Google Play Edition phone (or Motorola as the Moto X was updated at the same time as mine). People buying mid/low range phones might not care about having the latest OS the day it is released. Or, if they do, they can buy the Moto G/E for $200/$120 unlocked/contract free and get the update right away as well.
