63 for 4 years? That is crazy. I would give him Batum money based on potential. But an average of 16 mil a year?
I guess they figure it is the only way to get him without the Jazz matching. You got to over pay.....

Has anyone seen anything on what Pau Gasol is projected to be offered?

Well if Hayward is going to get 16 mil a year then who's to say he shouldn't get 14 lol

    Then Im confused:

    Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
ESPN sources say Pau Gasol and Mike Miller are indeed among free agents that Oklahoma City has engaged with since market opened

    Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
OKC at present limited to roughly $5 millon in spending room below tax line, so remains to be seen if they can compete, especially for Pau

Hayward already turned down 4/48 from the Jazz before FA started. You would have to think that his camp knew he could get more on the open market.

Agreed that was the plan before the year, but I am not sure his year warranted more than what the Jazz offered. He showed glimpses, but nothing max worthy.

    Josh Robbins @JoshuaBRobbins
Jason Maxiell appears likely to be waived on or before July 10. If isn't waived before July 11, his 2014-15 salary becomes guaranteed.

Well he's about to be validated. Nobody thought Batum was worth 11 million a year but he's earning that cash now. There are certainly deals that look bad at first glance but turn out to be just fine. Derozan at 9 million a year comes to mind.

In an attempt to answer my own question:

    Bleacher Report NBA @BR_NBA
VIDEO: @HowardBeck ranks the most likely landing spots for Pau Gasol bit.ly/1mlEVxq

Beck estimates upward to 10 mil/per. Top candidates Heat, Rockets, Mavs, Suns and Lakers

Bulls and Thunder have emerged as two new top-flight teams in the hunt for Gasol, who has predictably been drawing considerable interest

Im still not getting this, if the Thunder get him for the MLE Im going to be pissed

Just our luck, that's exactly what will happen. I'm hoping Chicago picks him up.

He's going to follow the money, so I wouldn't be worried about the MLE from OKC. He's already got his rings so he's just going to chase one last big contract before retirement.

Ok so, heres the issue here about people getting pissed about a player signing elsewhere for what we can offer. I think it's safe to say OKC is a better team than the Blazers and more of a legit title contender. With money being the same and Roles being similar as starting center, why would he choose Portland over OKC?

    Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
RT @ramonashelburne: In a surprising twist, OKC has come on strong with Pau Gasol, and described as a "frontrunner" for the Spaniard.

That's valid and understandable .... but it still pisses me off. :) Its another sign that we arent yet contenders in the eyes of free agents.

I get being pissed that way, I just don't get the people who get pissed becasue they perceive it to be a failure on behalf of the GM.

If we got Gasol. Wow, instant contenders.

No, I do trust in Olshey as long as he made the effort then thats all I can ask. And if Gasol makes the wrong decision then thats on him.
