Re: Monroe's agent working on a deal with Blazers

Why did this need it's own thread, exactly?

And? Any GM or coach you ask "who'd you rather have?" And their answer would be a landslide. Aldridge!

The ones that don't are probably the same that will complain about Lillards D or batums aggressiveness. Basically complains unless you have a perfect player.

Lebron isn't perfect. So, there are no perfect players. Never has been, never will be. But, some have a fear of perfection, and perhaps project it onto their sports.

    This just got deep. lol.

That's basically my point. If lbj came to Portland, I guarantee there would be people bitching about his game as well. Get it?

And how many GMs and coaches have you asked?

But, I am on both sides. LMA does at times choose to not go in the paint. So I'm a fence rider, deal with it. :)

Are you saying they would pick Monroe over Aldridge?

I've not seen much of Monroe. But I do like the fact that he takes 82% of his shots in the paint. I think this team could really use an inside presence. LA takes 65% of his shots from mid-range, and does not shoot a good percentage. And I don't see any other stand-out qualities in LA beyond the ability to get really hot every once in awhile.

Oh you haven't seen enough of Monroe, yet you are down for replacing Aldridge with him? There have been many failed "looks good on paper" players that have failed in Portland and many other teams.

I do like one stat though. The win share of Aldridge over Monroe. And let's talk about what happened to Portland when Aldridge went down with injury. And let's not forget how Aldridge basically won game 1 and 2 for us, and still had a dominating series against Houston.

Let's all be thankful you aren't the gm that uses nerd sheets to replace your superstars.

If we can sign Monroe and then trade LMA for Lebron I would be all for it!

I think I'll send that idea to Olshey.

I know the injury happened against SAS on Mar 12th... when did he come back? I'm just trying to look at stats... I got us at 7-4 from then to Apr. 1st... but I cant remember when he came back... but, that was the time when we went on that east coast trip and stunk it up in CHA and ORL... so, again, I can see both sides.

I distinctly remember the first game back, they said the Blazers were 4-6. Then we only lost 1 game from that point to the end of season.

If my math is right, counting the game he got injured, the lowest we would have gotten is 3-5... but that was only 13 days of rest... I think he was out 3 weeks or something.... Ah, I can't remember. Semantics is what I'm playing, apparently. lol

Sounds like you guys need a history lesson.

Before LaMarcus missed his first game on 2/19, Portland had already been playing sub .500 ball. from 1/20 to 2/19 they were 5-8.

For the next 5 games he missed, the Blazers went 4-2 (which included a 2pt loss to pt game to San Antonio). So they actually improved.

Then he comes back from 3/1 to 3/13 and the Blazers drop 5 of 7. He gets hurt again and Portland goes 3-5 (with a 1pt and 2pt loss). But then he came back and they finished the season strong.

LaMarcus only shot 43% from the field post all-star break.

LaMarcus shot .500% or better only 24 times last season. He's eFG% is worse than the teams overall, and if we could hold our opponent to LAs FG% we'd have the best defense in the league. So what does that tell you?

I know what you whiners are going to say next "oh but he draws people away blah blah blah blahblah". Ok, but let's look at what some of the other stars shoot:

    Lebron 61%
    Durant 55%
    Nowitski 54%
    Love 52%
    Harden 52%
    Anthony 50%
Even a chucker like Rudy gay 48%

LA is not even in the top 200 of qualified players.

So you are saying that you would rather have Monroe over Aldridge? Still haven't answered the question.

All I see is you trying to downplay what the nba put as an all nba team. Where was Monroe?

You can origami the nerd stats all day long, but I would bet you $1,000 that if we had a poll with all the gms and coaches in the nba, they would want Aldridge over Monroe any day of the week.

LaMarcus Aldridge is a volume shooter, inefficient average defending over-rated player whose only claim to fame is that he can get his shot off anytime and gets really hot every once in awhile.
