Posters keeping linking the Hawes situation to Kaman situation. I see them as mutually exclusive. Is there even one poster who has blamed the Blazers for not getting Hawes. One?

Meanwhile some (very few it appears) don't like the Kaman signing.

I think a big part of throwing the MLE at him was to get him to take the 1m guaranteed for next year. Contracts like that are very attractive for teams especially in a player who is not completely washed up so he could be a very nice trade chip at the deadline or even after the season.

Instead of sending Olshey to meet with Hawes, Paul Allen should have sent Bush and Cheney. It's those little personal touches that shows a player how much we want them.

Also I think someone needs to point out that HCP is currently on vacation in LA. We all know that HCP has secretly been a Laker fan for years. Maybe he's now a Clipper fan and told Hawes not to sign with the Blazers.

Well not exactly. His last team was San Diego and Boston before that since the LAL. I can't think of anyone we got directly from LAL since the first year.
We got Leroy Ellis and Pat Riley. Riley never did show up.

Dude if you are coached by a guy who's scheme allows you to develop into an allstar. Then you get thrown around to teams who don't have any idea what use they have for you, and you can only expect for that person to be pissed. Judging kaman off of his last 4 years is ridiculous, especially judging last season. He's got good years left, just gotta trust.

Really . . . you think judging him from 2010 is better? I'm sure a lot of FA would want this analysis, and if you are going to judge Kaman that way, then yes Kaman is a steal.

I don't want to start dogging on Kaman because I've done it enough and he is a Blazer now. But to compare him to the Rolo acquisition from last summer is not a good comparison, IMO. Rolo was a legit starting center who was available because NO wanted to get Evans and Blazers has cap space. Kaman is a FA who didn't have a lot of interest and basically accepted a two yr contract with the second year being almost like a team option. We got Kamen for less than what Rolo is paid for 1 yr. You can't expect as much from Kaman as you could from Lopez.

But hey, Lopez surprised for the positive, T-Rob and Mo were what was expected and Wright disappointed . . . so you never know how Kaman will end up on expectations. But if you are expecting Kaman from 2010 and throwing out his last 4 yrs, I don't think it is me who is being ridiculous.

We shall see. Probably will work out better than Hawes would be my guess.

We don't know how much interest kaman had. He came to portland because of Olshey and Hughes, i don't think he was going to give anywhere else a shot, he wanted what was comfortable. Kaman fell through the cracks caused by Spencer Hawes, there really aren't much better shooting true centers in the NBA right now.

We all should be talking about how lucky we are to be the suitor kaman wanted to play for.

Well if we don't know how much interest Kaman had (my guess is very little given his contract) then we also don't know why he came to Ptd (you are merely guessing).

I feel pretty confident Kaman would have gone to the team that offers his the most money because that is what most players do. But again I'm just guessing like you.

Did you read any rumors about teams interested in Kaman. If Blazers are so lucky to have him why would he agree to a buy out for 1 million dollars. Why has he bounced around for the last 4 yrs without a team locking him up. How was the playing for the Mavs a bad situation for him, most players love playing fro Cuban.

I may be way underestimating Kaman's ability (it's really his personality I don't like), but not sure where you are coming from that he will be as good as Lopez and only wanted to play for the Blazers.

Kamans name didn't come up because like I said the teams looking for a stretch big were all over hawes. You would be hearing kamans name today if he hadn't agreed to a deal who portland.

I probably should have linked this a while ago, I thought it already would have been.

Edit: and I believe he bounced around because teams weren't using him right. Olshey and Hughes know exactly how to get the most out of kaman, something the lakers and mavs weren't able to come close to.

OK . . . I'm a huge Blazer fan and want to see Kaman do well (and not get pissy) so i'm not going continue along with this. Fair to say 5.8 million is one of the "arrays of reasons" he choose the Blazers? But if you think Kaman was going to be a highly sought after FA center and would only consider signing with the Blazers . . . god bless you.

We wanted bench scoring and Kaman gives you that at a bargain price on basically a one year deal with and option. The guy put up 31/17/6 against the Suns last year after not playing much..I'll take that anyday. D'Antoni made Gasol look washed up last year, Kaman was baffled at the Lakers scheme, so was the league. I'm optimistic. Highly sought after centers don't get 1 year deals for 5 mil. I'll say it again, trust Olshey!

So are we just finding highest scoring games by players now?

Something else to consider is who we could potentially match up with next year in playoffs. Memphis, SA, and Houston all have good bigs. Nice having a guy who has experience playing against them. Now we either sign Mo or get another guard who can give Lillard some rest and we should be better than last year. Not necessarily better record but come playoff time we should be a harder out for the top teams in the west.

I'm a Barton fan love how hard the kid plays and the energy he brings. Hes not always the smartest player but at least he plays 110% all the time. Hopefully he or CJ improve and they give us some more bench scoring.

what part of 17 rebounds and 6 assists plus an allstar past did you choose to ignore?

It was one fucking game, and it was 28 pts. The very next game he had 12/6 in 29 minutes and shot 35% from the floor.

Kaman is adequate back up and all, but posting single game stats as an argument is silly IMO
