Anyone have Insider? The article "Better for Yanks if Sabathia calls it quits" by Buster Olney is a frickin' Insider article and I'm not paying for it, but does anyone have Insider and willing to share? http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/post/_/id/7034 This is what a non-insider can see... Don't know what is beyond this... And for the record, I hate this ESPN insider crap... (not just baseball, but all sports...)

There's no doubt in my mind about that... and I actually hope he never does again... But still don't know what the rest of the article says
it basically said that the yankees should hope he doesn't play any more and they can collect a portion back in insurance, because even if he does come back he's more than likely going to be ineffective, and even if he's effective, he will not come close to earning his salary
CC's contract has definitely become a nightmare, but what are you going to do I guess. Late in contracts this is what happens. At least he (among others) got us a WS in 2009. So at least his contract wasn't for almost nothing.
I know that many people were hoping this would be the case with ARod last year, and the big difference is that ARod is a dick and Sabathia isn't, but, regardless of the case, well, at the risk of speaking the obvious - you only get one career in MLB. Until science finds a way to reverse aging and make humans immortal so that we don't have to get old and don't have to die, this is the way things are going to be. With that in mind, if Sabathia's career is over and we don't quite realize it yet, well, then say what you want for being off the hook for Sabathia's huge contract when he's in an obvious decline (his knee doesn't explain his poor April or poor 2013 in general), but it will be sad day because he's always been a hard-worker and a consummate pro, and to have your livelihood taken away without being able to end on your own terms is always really unfortunate.

Yes, welcome! I agree that they only have one career, but IMO, athletes are way overpaid, and these NTC, opt outs, gaurantees, etc. are beyond ridiculous... In no way, shape, or form should any athlete make more money over their career than a soldier, scientist, medical professional, or teacher... you can add cops/firemen to that list as well... Just take one year of his salary and that could probably cover about 25 cops lifetime earnings... if even... I do think his productivity is over... BUT, will he ever pitch again...
