I don't think it the scoring that will be missed as much as Mo being able to push the pace and his assists numbers . . . but he could also be instant offense off the bench,

The Portland Trail Blazers have made re-signing free agent point guard Mo Williams a high priority. Although cap space has been a limiting factor in their other Free Agency pursuits, Williams can be re-signed using the Non-Bird exception if he agrees to their proposal, which is unlikely to include the three more years Williams is seeking. The Non-Bird exception allows a team to re-sign their own free agent that has played only one year on the team for up to four years at 120 percent of their previous salary. Depending on interest around the league, this could be a good idea for both parties.

The Dallas Mavericks are the only team so far that has been reportedly pursuing Williams outside of Portland. However; their interest has probably played out. The Mavs reached an agreement with returning point guard Devin Harris for a 3-year/$9M deal earlier this afternoon. Since they acquired Raymond Felton from the New York Knicks in the Tyson Chandler trade last month, they are pretty well set at the point guard position.

With windows closing for Williams as quickly as they are for the Trail Blazers, there is a good chance that we will see him in a Trail Blazers jersey again this year. According to Williams’ agent, Mark Bartelstein, Williams’ camp is “still in constant communication with [general manager] Neil [Olshey] everyday” as they feel out all of their options.

Dustin Hawes ‏@DHawes22 It was never the money w/ Mo ... He stated from Day One he wanted the security of a long-term deal. Best of luck in Dallas, @mowilliams!

    NBA Offseason ‏@NBA_Offseason
Mo williams is expected to sign with Mavs today. The mavs will likely use their biannual exception.

    Pinwheel Empire ‏@pinwheelempire
Mo Williams rumored to be signing with the Mavs for the Bi-Annual Exception...which means his value has dropped. #ripcity #blazers

Probably not the greatest sources, lol.

Summer ain't over. I don't think Olshey would let Mo slip away like this unless he has a bigger plan. Maybe I'm hoping too much though

    Re: Mo signs with Mavs

I have no evidence of this, but my gut feeling is that Portland probably didn't try very hard to re-sign him. This most likely wasn't a case of being out bid, but more the case of having two point guards on the roster that struggle so much defensively. Dame hopefully gets better, but at this point allowing the Tony Parkers of the world a full 48 minute opportunity to steam roll our point guards wasn't a great mix.

Mo was the best player off the bench, but in reality how hard will his production be to replace? Losing his veteran influence may be the only down fall to him leaving.

Absolutely nothing in that article made me think that re-signing him was a Blazer priority. (Even the title) I don't believe it for a second. Maybe I think that way because I didn't want them to, but unless they actually made an offer to him.....then Neil was just making lip service in case he had no other choice.

I would love to acquire Beverly, but I doubt that could be pulled off. It would be like Greg Anthony and Damon all over again, but dame is much better than Damon and Anthony is better than beverly

Well back to the same question. Offensive PG that can run a team or Defensive PG? For example if we could (which we probably cant) make the money work say Nelson vs Chalmers

If this isn't true you're getting banished ala some others who reported failed deals from this forum.

And you better use the fucking lotion.

Maybe that's the Blazer thinking. They need more defense . . . especially since they signed Kaman. :)

I think the Blazers didn't want to commit to him long term.

Any tweets by Lillard . . . he thought that re-signing MO should have been Blazers top priority.
