Makes sense. Dirk and Carter have been paid handsomely in this league already. Mo came to them.

I wonder if the Mavs tried that line on LeBron.

As a non-Bird Rights free agent, the Blazers can re-sign Williams to a $3.15M contract even though they're capped out. So it's just a question of whether he can find a deal larger than that elsewhere. Obviously, the veteran's minimum is unlikely to tempt him away.

I thought he meant "how would the rotation work out", the answer to which I have no idea.

Mo had a choice, beat out Dame for a starting job or Raymond Felton. He made the right choice

Oh, I see. It would give them some lineup versatility. You can pretty much pair Williams up with any other guard, though pairing him with Matthews would be the sketchiest. It would be a lot of guards, though. But the Blazers need as much talent as they can get, so I'm not sure they can turn a decent player like Williams, on a one year commitment, away just for that reason.

Yeah, sorry Wizard is right. I was talking about the rotation. I don't see how we would accommodate so many guards.

I don't think we should sign Williams at any price unless we have some sort of significant trade worked out.

I don't think we should re-sign him period. At all. Under any circumstances.

He's too short to play shooting guard, and unfortunately that was his best position last year. We have Steve Blake now, and I would much rather play CJ or Will at the backup two spot.

I would offer Mo the max we could offer with a buyout on the 2nd year. he would make more in one yr than he would in 2 yrs with Dallas.

Mo was the best player the Blazer had coming off the bench last yr and even if he falls behind Blake and an emerging young guard, he adds depth to what almost all agree is a weak bench. If the Blazers get Mo I would upgrade their off season up to a B-.

This is another example of where you and I differ, because I would downgrade my offseason to a D+. Adding Mo would show that Neil doesn't care about chemistry or a balanced rotation. He already signed Blake. Adding Mo would only cause a lot of problems. Mo was used to playing 25 minutes per game last season. There's no chance in hell that he would get that kind of burn, so he would almost certainly be unhappy.

You are right, we differ. If chemistry is the issue, we know Mo has chemistry with the current Blazers and coach. In fact when Lillard was asked who is the number one priority this summer, he said Mo.

I don't think the Blazers would have the problems you foresee. Mo has shown he can play with Wes and Lillard and Blake fits right in with being a combo guard. I think Barton and CJ might be stuck on the bench, but a rotation of Lillard, Wes, Blake and Mo for the two guard spots would be strong.
