No, I think at the time I thought he was overpaid, but we were in a lose/lose because we couldn't just let him walk for nothing. Now, with some of the deals being thrown around, Nic is actually very reasonably paid.

15 mil/yr for Parsons' offense. They won't get much of a return with his defense.

And with Parson's not having a Harden or Dwight on offense, teams can key on him more, let's see how he performs.

I wasn't impressed with him against Ptd in the playoffs, but he was the talk before the regular season as being the up and coming SF and he delivered. Should be interesting, but if he doesn't continue to improve he will be a disappointment at 15 mil/yr.

More pieces doesn't necessarily mean better pieces, does it? It seems as if Morey created his own Raef Lafrentz situation by trade, and didn't sign anybody who was worth clearing up that space. Signing a Bosh or an Anthony would be better pieces, IMO. Signing amnesty players and the leftover FA scraps can't be terribly exciting for Houston fans.

I think a lot of Rocket fans are thinking like you and there is an pretty hefty Fire Morey thread going on in the Rockets forum.

He did get Dwight and I think Rockets will be just as competitive, but yes the way he shot for the moon wasn't the smartest and has a little Kahn feel to it.

Has that Asik deal been made official? Havent seen anything on it. And I agree, I like Ariza for the money over Parsons. He is a better defender and more dynamic on offense. I would have loved to have him here, honestly.

Morey did fail. But he tried. He came close and he if he had just a lil more money he probably would have landed Bosh.

He won twice lost once. I still don't think he's a bad GM but he royally fucked up this offseason, much to the delight of the western conference.

Money had nothing to do with it. He offered Bosh the max.

And with Parsons . . . that would have been scary.

I agree it's a disaster, relative to expectations, but I don't think he fucked it up. Risks always have downsides and he's facing it. I think the risk he took was defensible and, if I were a fan of Houston, I'd rather he took that gamble than didn't.

But now that he hasn't matched, unless he really puts that $10 million to good use, Houston is a worse team today then they were going into the playoffs.

$96M was the max anyone outside Miami could offer. He couldn't have upped it any.

Understand. Miami had the extra year and that's what he went with. Extra year, Extra money. Which is my point.

Like I knew you would ;)

Funny how closely our feelings are similar on this. The point is he tried. He came up short. If Riley was unwilling to max him out harbouring something similar to how some feel about Bosh in here having him being old and washed up. He wouldn't have. In that situation, Morey wins.

Yes, Bosh went with the extra year, but it had nothing to do with the Rockets though. More money wouldn't have helped the Rockets since they couldn't offer any more.
