    Yes, it's a shame things got hijacked like they did. In any event I thought it was funny that they actually made a big deal about whether or not Wainwright grooved a pitch or not.

    ...I think Wainwright was just cutting up, and some reporter took it completely out of context.

    ...if he truly wanted to "groove one" for DJ, he would have done it on the first pitch, not the second pitch. The first pitch looked like a breaking ball that went about 57 ft....the whole thing was much ado about nothing.

    ...plus, like Jeter pointed out, even if he did intentionally groove one "you still gotta hit it".

    The previous thread got kind of high jacked and went into a very bad direction. One of the admins thought it would be best to start over.

    I agree, that whole groove pitch thing got way out of hand. I mean seriously who really gives a shit. And wasn't the same thing mentioned about the Ripkin HR in his final ASG.

    ...yeah, pretty much. And they make a big deal out of the AS Game determining who gets HF advantage in the WS, which is a dumb way to decide it, IMO. The AS Game is a display of the games best players, as voted by the fans, which is another bad idea, IMO.
    ...the manager tries to make sure that pretty much everyone gets to play. But if winning was the real goal, then guys like Trout and Miggy should play all 9 innings...I mean don't they give you a better chance to win than anyone who might replace them?

    Again I agree, I mean they talk so much about how important the game is & yet remove the best players in the game after 1-4 innings. The new commissioner needs to end this ASG = HFA bullshit.

    ...speaking of "grooving one", this one is pretty much common knowledge...still a good story though...and the bit about Pepitone at the end is pretty funny too;

    Will be heading to the game Sunday. It will be pretty cool to see Jeter and crew play the Reds. Hopefully Kuroda turns in a good effort.

    The Cardinals are in the NL Central hunt, may well end up a division winner. All Star winner gets home field, so why would Wainer "groove one" knowing that American League lineup that follows. I'd say Jeter rose to the occasion and excelled in a big moment. Give Jeter the credit do, case closed.

    Excellent video clips of the Mick.....

    I read the story of Mick and Billy's hunting debacle in his book, 'The Mick''; still one of the funniest hilarious real stories, I've ever heard. It was a treat to hear Mick tell the story in person, better of course than reading about it.

    The trophy showcase behind Mick, is incredible too, what I would give to see that case of silver, gold, hardware trophies, et al.....wonder what museum it hopefully went to....?
