...matts, I'm not sure he'll still be able to play well enough to warrant being on the roster.

...I'm also not sure they can afford to even have him in the clubhouse.

He'll be back, if only to cost you your bag of cheetos.

I think Lee will be strong and rested...and have a big chip on his shoulder.

    Good point 59.....

I've been reading Torre's "The Yankee Years", I did not know the players in the clubhouse were calling Alex A-Fraud long before the Fans began yelling the same, during games, years ago, when it made CNN news.

I Had no clue it was the clubhouse sentiments prior to the fans. I could only imagine the chaos in the clubhouse when Alex returns....I'd not put it past the team to clear out, or put his locker in the janitors closet, to keep harmony amongst the team.

so, yeah, I can't see Alex being accepted in the clubhouse either....only MO' could forgive him, (or so he said as much in his last book, with stipulations of course)...

Huge upgrades, yes, but IMO, not enough...

...maybe not, but standing pat is certainly not enough.

I never said they should stand pat, but I believe they should go in the other direction... restock the farm, don't wast time on other peoples rejects.... that formula clearly hasn't worked & no logical reason to think it will now...

...like I said before, this ain't the Marlins...the Yanx don't rebuild, they reload.

...and at this point, being 4 games back with over 60 games to go is not the time to go with a youth movement.

...and the players being discussed are by no means "rejects"...and if you think about it, the successful Yanx teams have ALWAYS been built around a combination of their own players as well as FAs/trades.

I really don't see Beltre coming here (though I wouldn't mind) because as much as it sickens me I think we'll see A-Rod at 3rd base next year. As far as Hamels, he's young but I'm not so sure he's worth 22M over the next 4 years. JMO.

...oh, I doubt we'll see either Hamels or Beltre...but it's nice to dream. Of the 2, Beltre's contract would be the easiest to stomach.

Dont see the Hamel's being available. Lee, yes if he's healthy to move. Beltre, no idea. There has to be more options.

...so Philly wants the Sox to pick up his salary AND give them 3 top prospects?...not gonna happen. Hell, they won't even give their own Jon Lester that kind of money.

I fear Cole Hamels would find his career ruined in Bean Town....in years to come. Not much of an upgrade for him....no chance in hell, Bosox come close to the East Pennant....

No chance Bosox go to Playoffs this year, even if 6 wildcards existed....!

I sure will Rick, I should finish it within a week....so far, I'm very impressed with the book. Love it actually....will fill you in more tho' when I'm done with it.

the book "ERA: 1947-1957, When the Yankees, Giants and Dodgers Ruled the World" by Roger Kahn is a pretty good book, if you don't mind Kahn's writing style. I just began reading this 2nd book. The book touches on more than just the 3 NY Teams, eg, Stan Musial is spoken highly of as a NL NY Assassin....with game result examples.
