Thanks Rick, this is a GREAT Nostalgic thrill to me.....like yourself, most of the material shown, we either had experiences with, from those Lionel Trains, to sitting in Woolworth's getting a soda at the fountain, one that had to be mixed, syrup with carbonated water.....

Made my day, and damned made me feel young again, until I woke up from this dream. sore aching, reality soon sets in, shit fire.,...A time much simpler, and kinder and gentler too.....!

I wish I knew who was singing In the still of the night in that video. The 5 satins did the original but this was a very nice rendition by (group unknown)

I wondered the same, a classic version for a classy video....very well done....,when it comes to stats or nostalgia, I can eat this stuff for breakfast lunch and dinner.....!

2 old time classics, one I see made a comeback recently, is Tab and Fresca, the WORST soft drinks known to man. I see Tab trying with no success, (geez wonder why) to make a comeback, and a Mexican soda firm here in southern cal, is trying to resurrect Fresca, and they too will have shit for luck. there was a reason both soda companies went out of business. I'd of rather drank Castor Oil.

Seeing many of those things brought back a lot of memories to a much simpler time. Like the little transistor radio which I use to sneak listening to at night with the ear plugs listening to guys like cousin Brucie & Murray the Kay.

The backing vocals on "Lost In the Fifties" and additional album tracks were performed by a total of seven background singers 5 female, and 2 male. Milsap did a nice job on "Lost" gave him an "A" for the day when it came out.

...ya wanna make me confess to shit I didn't even do?...just tie me up and force me to listen to rap. I know my music made my parents roll their eyes and shake their head and I suppose every generation is that way but for me, rap just doesn't do it.

I agree, I just don't see the talent in rap. I mean 1st off you're not singing your talking, so basically you're just reciting poetry. And for the most part its really bad poetry. that is, whatever you can hear & understand. RAP........................................is CRAP!

I too like most boys, (seems boys had transistor radios, goyls had 45s or 78s, prior to 33 LPs). Least of my 6 sister none of 'em had a transistor radio....no other goyls I knew had them, either.

I went to bed every night with my 1 ear phone in, listening to Yankee Games. Years later when we moved, the KC Athletics and (those effing great) St. Louie Cardinals games, moved again, and listened nightly to Houston Colt 45, and Atlanta Braves games. A few years later SF Giants, and Oakland's A's. A couple years later, Bums Games, and Minor LG.-AAA L.A. Angels games.

I'd of been lost without my transistor radio.....

The other alternative, my mom putting on a Chet Atkins 78 LP, to go to sleep by.....

I still got my vices for going to sleep.....music, herbal tea, and a touch of ~~~
    ..../\/\/\...^^^...

The squeeze and I were at Leroy Selmans one night being served by an attractive black waitress. On her return with drinks she complimented my girl on her dress and asked if she did music. Girlfriend then told her I played guitar and sang which lead to a discussion on music theory. Found out she was an aspiring jazz pianist and singer with both of us being in agreement about the time that the art of music required. She said she was embarrassed by rap stating that anyone could pick up a microphone and swear, then went on about the black singers of the '50's, 60's and 70's which she knew pretty well given her age which I would have guessed at 22 or 23 years old. The whole time spent at that meal was a pleasant experience and I told her to keep on keeping on.

...^^^for me, the saddest thing about some of today's artists is that they're much like karaoke singers, under-talented and over-marketed...most of them don't write music/lyrics, they don't produce/engineer, they don't play a musical instrument, and are benefitted by dubbing and over-dubbing in the studio. Don't get me wrong, there are a few truly talented performers/musicians out there but not nearly as many as there used to be.
...there's also small dying breed of good technical musicians...tape loops and synthesizers and such, have rendered many of them obsolete.

Good story Michael & I'll tell you something it is my honest opinion that the kids listen to mostly shit today because they don't know anything else. I'd bet money that IF they were introduced to some of the better songs from the 50s, 60s & even many in the 70s that they would love it.

The other thing I thought about is what kind of music to the young people make love to today? I mean how do you seriously get busy listening to songs about bitches & hoes? Give me Barry White, James Ingram, Luther Vandross & many others anytime over these clowns Snoopy dog, Jazy, 50 cents & Eminem.

One of my favorite all time songs was "Since I Met You Baby" by Ivory Joe Hunter. I took a copy of the record to a studio, talked to the engineer and said I'd like to do a retro recoding of it. We discussed how we'd modernize it a bit and went about our business. We cut the song in about 3.5 hours, the engineer played piano, synthed the sax & snare drum, I played my guitar, and his girl friend who headed a vocal trio did the backing vocals. I had him make me a copy of the track so I could use it at Karaoke Events. Sand the song out and some guy came over and said "that's a nice track of that song where did you get it. I relayed to him the same story that I just typed. He then said he did'not believe me because no one who sang at Karaoke had that much ability. I told him I didn't give a shit weather he believed me or not but if he thought he could do the same then get on with it.

I also despise Rap Crap....loud effing boom boxes of shit.....

Whatever happened to Billy Holiday, Sam Cooke, Al Green, Nat King Cole......

Coltrane, Mingus, hell give me Chuck Berry if not a great Jazz virtuoso of yore'.

F'k it, I'm coming out of the closet, I love Mozart, and work he did, the man was a true child genius prodigy, tapped into lifes pulse itself, and relayed as much in his compositions.....
