Assuming Alex is back on the field next season should the Yankees put him back at 3rd & look to get a SS or put him at SS & look for a 3rd baseman. The 3rd option if Beltran is healthy is to have A-Rod as the full time DH & look for both a 3rd baseman & a SS. And lastly should we just solve the 3rd base situation & trust it to Chase Headly? I think this one depends on what he does over the final 65 games. 2nd base, don't be surprised if the Yankees give the full time job to rookie Rob Refsnyder. Discuss.

That ego tripping SOB probably figures on coming back to play short thinking he'll make the fans forget about Jeter and get the grand tour in his final season. In the event he does if I were Girardi I'd find every way possible to not place him on the line up card.
Unfortunately I don't see the Yankees having a $25M bench player. The most we could hope for IMO is that come spring training he's a complete bust & barely hits his weight. At which time it would justify buying him out. BUT, if he has a good spring (by good I mean anything above 270) I think we'll see him in the infield come April.
What FA will be lining up to be Alex's teammate this coming off season? To rebuild this team post-Core4, they will have to buy ARod out or we get a modern version of the Bronx Zoo.

I think his ban ends when the WS is over. I expect some action in Nov. Could be tax implications, so I'm not sure if a buy out in better in 2014 or after Jan 01, 2015.
