Maybe he will leave te "bend but don't break" defense behind and start being more aggressive at the point of attack.

I think Springs said it best when being recruited and deciding on Oregon, " the defense I was recruited for will be way more aggressive!"

This is a golden window year... Marcus the whole O line and a slew of skilled positions in check. Olomu to hub the defensive secondary, and AA on a mission to be considered a legit D lineman. I'd also throw in that my favorite player on D who I think will crush a lot of O lines, Buckner will truly be the hub of our defense up front!

Pellum needs to come out stout this year and make a statement that this is his D, not Aliotti's re tread. We'll know super quick against MSU!

Mariota got hurt in the UCLA game, and we lost when Stanford's D was at their peak. And Arizona remembered the 49-0 blowout plus Mariota was hurt and the team wasn't motivated.

The fault isn't all on Helf. The team as a whole, and te coaches, couldn't get motivated for continuing the BCS streak.

We get Zona and Stanford at home. Derek mason and those lbs are gone. Zona has a new QB and RB. I think our chances for making the title game with 1 loss, whether it be to ucla or MSU(Stanford is going to get crushed), I like our chances.

Also, Helf has the most wins as a new HC in Oregon history at 11. Yet he's on the hot seat.

Give him a chance people. Let's aim one game at a time first. That game being MSU, speaking of, are thin at DT thanks to an injury and have a bunch of young guys. I like our chances to run the ball.

Chip won the conference and made it to the Rose Bowl

    So no, not true

Helfrich isn't Chip, nor will he ever be Chip. Chip's just that much better in a lot of areas, with being a red ass and keeping the players in line being the biggest difference.

    Just the way it is.

Win/ loss first year, Helfrich was better. You think Stanford will be remembered last year for winning the Pac or losing to MSU in the Rose!? The 2nd game of this year wouldn't be circled by the nation if Stanford had rolled Sparta as they were expected to do! Helf won his bowl game against a massive provincial power in Texas and Chip lost against OSU. Both games the nation watched! I still firmly believe that had Chip used his TE's better against Auburn and not run LMJ directly at freaking Fairley we'd have a national championship in Autzen now! Chip is a great mind but give Helf a chance, year one with an injured star QB, a RB in DAT that never should have been a featured back and no Kiko, Long, Clay or Barner he didn't do to bad!

Helf and Don are going to put their own signatures on this years team, hopefully that will bring stability to the skeptics!

I would suggest to you STOMP that we weren't a smash mouth running offense before but we have Rolls Royce NOW! The country will have to take notice of our north to south come fall! This kid is the next coming of Frank Gore BUT he's 3 inches taller!

Winning the conference trumps all. Getting to the Rose Bowl is better than getting to the Alamo Bowl.

And BYU and Ole Miss also beat Texas last year. It's not some great thing these days.

I'm sure Helf will be given a chance, but I just don't expect him to be as good as Chip. His teams never put on a performance like the one vs Arizona last year. That was on coaching as much as anything else.

As someone who was in Boise for the 2009 game, I disagree. That was awful. Not a single offensive first down in the first half.

"Winning the conference trumps all. Getting to the Rose Bowl is better than getting to the Alamo Bowl."

Of course the way DAT and a few others responded you'd hardly know that and the Rose Bowl was in our grasp till we checked out of the AZ game. Stanford handed the roses back to us for a few weeks. I would suggest that when Stanford drummed us this team mentally went on vacation much like Bama did against the Sooners, since the national championship was no longer obtainable.

Oregon won the Pac then lost to Auburn in the National Championship. Cam became a mega star and on a national perception level Oregon was the team that just couldn't get over the final hump! How many people say but hey the Ducks still won the Pac? It sort of gets overshadowed by a bowl loss.

I would suggest Stanford now knows how that feels too!

As for Texas, good year bad year for them they are still the most recognized brand in college football today! Forbes will reiterate that. Beating them in any bowl is big to have on your resume and very helpful towards creating a super strong highway into recruiting that state well.

Those Boise St teams were pretty good

Even then the final score was 19-8, hardly the complete drubbing Arizona put on Oregon

I'm not saying I hate Helf or anything. He's just not Chip and it should be okay to say that. Some people really take offense to that..

I'd suggest to you that you recall how much of an impact the last Freshman you were head over heals in love with had. Remember... every day you'd tell us all how he was going to take the Pac 12 by storm. And when he didn't you still trumpeted a mid-season first sack like it was just a small taste of whats to come... but then I went back and watched the play & instead of a sack it was a completed pass. You remember him don't you... Eddie V's bff? A whole lot of silence followed all that big talk (and then a name change), but you're back & with the same song and dance over a new Freshman who'll change everything

Like most freshman, Freeman is deep on the bench and unlikely to make much of an impact unless there are multiple injuries. He's making a gigantic leap in competition from rural HS where he was bigger & faster then everyone else. He's not going to run over DTs or run away from DBs anymore & the school isn't changing the offense away from Hi-Tempo/zone reads to fatass OLineman & a power run game... thats just silly. They ran the Spread/zone read with success with LeGarrett & Stewart, & they'll run it with Royce. Just like with Arik, everyone here but tlongII is rooting for him but hopefully your exuberance is more justified this time.

Team reports on Rolls is he already has an NFL ready body! He's a north to south runner and a goal line 3rd and short guy, Oregon hasn't had this since Stewart. It's very news worthy and exciting cause it's a weapon the Ducks have needed for a while now! Glad you could find negativity in that as well!

But hey it wouldn't be you if you couldn't find a way to slam any type of positive that "YOU" didn't regurgitate "FIRST" off a pay site or google to try and look extra informed! That's just you!

A day without Stomping in shit can't happen here with you around!

    At least you're consistent!

BTW- Have you ever looked up narcissistic personality disorder? Might give you some clarity!

    Cheers!

good grief...being obnoxiously repetitive about some pie in the sky hope isn't being positive, it's being obnoxious. And yes, I regurgitated that take from a pay site... actually, I regurgitate that take from every chat site because absolutely no one appreciates obnoxiously repetitive anything. You like Royce and have a really clever nickname for him... got it, a long while ago. It's an absolute positive that a quality prospect like Freeman projects as a 3rd-5th string backup during his first year as it speaks to Oregon's talent and depth. Plus, as we've heard from umpteen other top prospects who were relegated to backup roles when they arrived, there is a lot to learn and adjust to & they benefitted greatly from that situation. I'm very interested in seeing what Thomas Tyner, Danny Mattingly, Terrodney Prevot, Tyree Robinson & the rest of the 2nd year guys bring as thats so often when guys show out

btw, looked up narcissistic personality disorder and it said something about being so full of... self importance that you'd actually believe your 2 cents posted on a obscure chat site would wield influence over some 17 year old football prospect's decision making. Glad thats not me!

Coach Campbell on day 2 of fall camp of Royce's true freshman year, has already said Freeman is where Tyner was at the end of the year last year!

Keep talking mouth! You're making me look like a rock star by the post!

Unlike AA who was the best offensive lineman in the country coming out of high school who left that spot to try a new position on defense at the highest level that would work better for weight and making his basketball dreams, Rolls has always been a north to south RB beast and he's not learning how, he showing how day 2!

    Keeping bumping those gums Stomp!

    Rolls is the truth!

You can link Oregon Live if you need to get a quote!

But just so you can't mess it up to bad here's a good one!

"He's not like any running back I've seen come from Oregon," Malone said. "But he's really big, fast. I can't wait to see him in a scrimmage as well."
