Why when people do dumb things is it Gods fault? People make there own decisions. Atheists are quick to jump on this because it says he was a pastor, well guess what he did not Know God.
Anybody can put sheeps clothing on themselves yet they are a wolf. It happens in all sectors of life if you're Christian/atheist etc.

    You have a point.

Yet, IMHO, there are people who do/say stupid and prejudiced things out of ignorance. With regard to gays often they have never met an out gay person; these people sometimes change their mind when they realize they are talking about their child, sibling, neighbor, colleague. But those who do/say stupid and prejudiced things and claim it's because of their god are far less likely to change. Because it's not just ignorance, they claim divine justification.

This is true, but I know many churches that accept those that are gay. My church, for example, accepts gay people as their own.

To be fair, I have also seen how Minstrel interacts with those who disagree, having been one myself. We had a lovely spirited discussion about a week ago. We were both polite and respectful the entire time, even resolving a misunderstood perceived slight. The manner in which Minstrel responds to people is more dependent on the person's attitude than their opinions.

I think it's hilarious how you allowed for the (remote) possibility that you might, in fact, be perfect. :devilwink:

Most Christians with whom I've discussed homosexuality attempt to parse the concept by saying that they accept gay people but condemn the act of homosexual sex. Unfortunately, too many do not live in such a manner that reflects that claim.

For example, I have a friend who was hosting a baby shower for her sister. She was conflicted about inviting her cousin and her wife to the shower. We asked her if she would have the same internal conflict about her male cousin and his live-in girlfriend; she admitted that she would not. We pointed out the hypocrisy of her position, and she realized she was wrong.

In my mind, it is reasonable for a Christian to view homosexuality as sinful. It is not reasonable, however, to treat the person differently because they commit a particular sin. The Bible says that we are all sinners, and that whoever breaks one part of the law is guilty of all of it. "Christians" who elevate homosexual sex above other sins are simply wrong.

Amen brother! I have a gay daughter and many gay friends. They are treated with the same level of respect as any other family member or friend. I do not hide that my daughter is gay. I do not make her feel that being gay is wrong. I just tell her how much I love her and how proud I am of her. And I definitely know that I am far from perfect and I cannot pass judgement on any man (even though I slip and do it a lot).

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Just playing around. ;) I think one issue is that people take some of my banter much too seriously and mistake it for me being a jerk.

I mean, I might be a jerk, but probably not as often as some people perceive. Certainly not as much as SlyPokerDog.

Of course I am aware many people of faith, including believing Christians, support equality. I go to Pride in SF and there are contingents after contingents of churches, synagogues, Buddhist temples, and yes gay Muslims. In my local community we hold a small Pride celebration that begins with an interfaith prayer by local clergy.

Rev. Troy Perry said "the lord is my shepherd and he knows I'm gay". Rev. Cecil Williams, a straight veteran of the civil rights movement, tells gay parishioners "God made you gay and God does not make mistakes". The Jewish Renewal movement makes no differentiation between gay and straight people/couples.

Sadly, there are still those who think the more they hate the godlier they are.

Now he just edits my posts out. The little prick has not worked up the fortitude to ban a man.

If you really demand your right to be suspended for a few days, you can have it. It wasn't lack of fortitude that was staying my hand, just a desire to let you cool down. But you can't keep breaking the rules over and over.

How often have we seen this sequence:

    1) Poster breaks rule
    2) Poster gets called on it
    3) Poster attacks mod
    4) Mod replies
    5) Poster declares martyrdom

Here's my advice: get down off that cross, use the wood to build a bridge, and GET OVER IT!

Marazul, I honesty read your use of sore as you meaning gash or kunt. She is a sore that does not heal means you're talking about her vajaja. It doesn't heal, it bleeds once a month, it's a sore and it's an insulting way to address a woman.

I do not ever recall Crandc addressing you in such a vile and rude way. Maybe you didn't mean it that way. But you sure didn't mean it as a compliment. You meant to insult her and that's where we have a problem.
