To put things in perspective... Marion had more rebounds per game than Taj. Only Taj at .479 shot a higher FG% than Marion last year. DJ and Dunleavy at .411 and .380 had a higher 3pt FG%. He had fewer turnovers per game than: Rose, Deng, Noah, Boozer, DJ, Taj, Hinrich, Butler, or Dunleavy. His 1.2 blocks per game would have been 3rd on the team behind Noah and Taj. Double that of our 3rd best, Dunleavy at 0.6. His 13.7 PER would have been only behind Noah, Deng, DJ, Taj, and Boozer. His TS% of .537 would have been 3rd behind DJ and Dunleavy. &c He may not have been the master of any one thing we need, but he was simply a really good all around player. A 2-way player. And with championship experience. At vet minimum, he'd be a score.
I think that's right. My response is more directed toward why, if I was Marion, I wouldn't sign with the Bulls.
Given the roster we have, I'd start him or McBuckets. I'm not sure Thibs wants to start a rookie, though he is high on the Dougster.
