What if they actually like that stuff? And what if they're professionals and appreciate that the coach gets to decide?

Rose is by far the most overrated player of this era...

Hell no, not even close. Rose was great before he was injured!

He was athletic, not great. Basically he is Baron Davis with a better team/coach.

Drummond is a better player, Plumlee is a better fit. :)

Lot's of validity to this. 'Fit' is one reason Colangelo got involved with USA basketball. He is trying to put together a team of working parts. Parts that can work together. I would say that his record to thus point speaks for itself.

Damian will get his shot. He can do it this year if he is able to set himself apart. He has a lot of things going for him. He needs to make it known to the coaches.

You make valid points. But I also think that he was playing on something Tone said about Mo and Blake. lol.

Here's what I took away from this game.

    1. Thibodeau's Boston Mafiaesque personality influences K to make Rose the #1 option and play too many minutes.

    2. A theory died--that K will play all players a few minutes and not tire them out. He stuck with his core during the long blowout.

    3. Getting zero minutes (players to be cut) were Drummond, Hayward, and DeRozan. Lillard played 1 minute. Even with a long garbage time.

    4. The only reason Lillard played was that Rose got a cut on his forehead and went to the locker room.

    5. Lillard was soon replaced by Korver. This means that K categorizes them together and views Lillard as a shooter, not a PG.

    6. With a minute left in the half, K needed a top shooter in case of a clutch opportunity. So he replaced Lillard with Korver. This means that K views Korver as the man for that role, not the undersized Lillard.

    7. With this bad news for the coming game threads, Denny has been forced to go on another diet.

With all 6 of my feeble internet search skills depleted, I still couldn't find a box score for this game and I refuse to become an ESPN insider as a matter of principal. I think the coaches wanted to get the starters in a rhythm against Brasil and later we'll see more bench play. I'm not disappointed Lillard only played a minute. He's getting a coach Thibs defensive clinic everyday he practices with this team. Damian has a future with USA ball and he still might make the team but limiting his minutes is not necessarily a bad thing going into the preseason. Given that Boogie can't play and Durant opted out, Damian's lack of size is not going to help his cause. Korver, Hayward, Plumlee and Faried are making this team. People diss coach K for using Plumlee but his game is suited to Euro ball. FIBA is not famous for half court slugfests with dunk after dunk. Being a shooter is what they value.Davis, Plumlee and Faried are by far the fastest bigs on the team.

I can't believe that it's in coach K's game plan for Thompson to take that many shots...I'd rather see parsons get those shots/minutes

    eff/min x 100…eff…player

    100 26 Davis, Anthony
    87 13 Plumlee, Mason
    86 25 Harden, James
    79 11 Irving, Kyrie
    74 17 Faried, Kenneth
    58 7 Gay, Rudy
    33 8 Rose, Derrick
    28 7 Thompson, Klay
    18 4 Curry, Stephen
    0 0 Lillard, Damian
    0 0 Parsons, Chandler
    -33 -1 Korver, Kyle

Sorted by efficiency points per 100 minutes. Plumlee will make the team. It seemed like Korver played more minutes than 3.
