I watch ESPN's show Game Day and so far this year, ESPN has appeared to be uninterested in Oregon thus far showing very little interest if any at all. I also don't see much of them if anything at all substantial on the ESPN website front page (College Football) much either compare.

I just think that this is odd and wonder if anyone else has observed the same thing? To me, it's just pretty surprising considering we are ranked number 2 in the country.

ESPN and the heavily biased southern sports hierarchy to what is or isn't important football seems to almost be betting on the fact we'll slip a game up and thus why waste the air time for the same old Oregon song. That said, Marcus has been getting quite a ton of love this year, my thinking is that he'll bring respect back to a trophy that many feel is a dubious achievement these days!

It makes me wonder if ESPN is charging schools for airtime on that show? Their is no way that Michigan should get a 20 minute segment with them unless the school is paying. IMO and curiosity.

Michigan is a big brand in turmoil. Even I am interested in them. The Ducks aren't very interesting atm because we aren't playing the big boys. Once the UCLA week rolls around we will get coverage.

I agree with you but Gamedays 20 minute take on Michigan was really a fluff piece meant to garner excitement. Agree with you that they are a program in turmoil.

I have to give the NCAA some credit where credit is due. It's taken many years of legislation to create at least some level of parity in NCAA football. No longer can colleges with money and interest like Michagin, USC, Washington, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, etc., etc., just walk up and name drop to get a recruit (While I recognize this still happens on a lower level). Scholarship limitations, booster contributions limitations, Gender equality to sports, and others have made a difference. Considering that big schools can't just rely on name-dropping anymore, it seems like they have to focus more on the coaching capabilities more and more. It's getting better but it's not there yet where I would like to see it.

I think teams like Michigan and Penn state could be great still. They just need to move on with the times, this 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense does not work when you recruit guys from the Midwest. It works in the south where the 300 pound guys are athletic and agile... Midwest 300 pounds is different than southern 300 pounds.

Ohio state, Notre Dame and USC have moved on with the times for the most part and they're respectable still. Washington is average but that's mostly because their coaching is very "meh".

ESPN is about appealing to the masses so as to get ratings. Oregon is a small state population wise that most of the country doesn't care about.

it's not about being fair, it's just business

This is true.....but still wonder if they accept payment for airtime? Michigan is terrible and frankly irrelevant for a long time now.
