...I think he'll only be away from the game a short time after taking a well deserved rest. I wouldn't be surprise to see him put together a ownership group and take over the Rays. He lives there and needless to say, he's very popular there too, plus I'm sure MLB wants to have Jeter as a part of it's image. ...also love to see him eventually take over the Yanx some day down the road...but for now, I don't see the Steins selling.
I would bet Jeter won't be a part owner of the Rays in any way- but I would really like to see him in the dugout managing the Yankees. I don't know if he's interested in managing but wouldn't it be something really special to have a great Yankee captain taking over the reigns in the dugout and winning a WS or two? Has it ever happened before? A great player from a team managing them after he retired to a championship/s? I get the feeling Jeter would be a good manager. Jeter had/has that way about him not being a rah rah guy but getting respect and making players want to play well around him...and in this case, as a manager, FOR him. He would just give them the look...his presence demands players to play smart and hard.
I don't think you'll ever see Jeter managing, he himself has said he has no interest in doing so. Also I really can't see him as a manager. I mean never getting thrown out of a game, or ever arguing with an umpire can you really see him coming out of the dugout to argue for his players? I can't.
