...unreal, isn't it?...not out of the realm of possibilities that a fringe player can make $50 Mil or so during a playing career. ...case in point, Steven f'n Drew, to date has made $40.5 Mil...and he's only 31.
Good article, good read, thanx 59..... On Drew: to borrow a line from your vocab- "Jesus Tap Dancing Christ"....
More power to drew and guys like him. Get what you can get and never feel guilty about it. Hell they throw career money like that at Ben Affleck.
Affleck, heard he refused to wear a Yankees cap in his latest flick, guess what buddy, the Yankees Franchise and fans are glad you didn't.
Yeah, how can you expect ANYONE to live on a lousy $14.1M per year? Maybe now at $15.3 these players will be able afford to take there kids to a football game.
I wan't to go.....Kim has always said, she raised 4 Sons, and I'm her oldest one....thus I should be eligible to go to that Football game, make it Hockey instead......!
_______________________ Ben Affleck - a proud member of that New England/Boston/"southy" down to earth tough guy Redsox fan crew. lmao
So basically what this means is that the'll probably give Robertson a qualifying offer, in this case now 15.3M. Which would be a helleva raise over his current 5.6M. And considering what happened to both Drew & Morales last year no one in Robertson's status who would never get 15M on the open market will not be turning down these qualifying offers. Its a damn joke.
_________________ I would tell him to take a walk and promote a kid from the minors to take his spot. Save the money...if Betances becomes the closer - Drob won't be a difference maker as the 7th-8th inn guy. Are they trying to tell us they don't have some kid with a live arm who can't get 3 outs here or there in the 7-8th innings? This is what it's all about---> working young kids/pitchers into the fold. This is a joke! But I'm not laughing.
...the problem with giving D-Rob a $15.1 Mil QO, is that he'd probably take it. He'll be 30 in April and though he was good this year, he was not as dominant as he needed to be in order to garner a huge pay day...I'd offer him a 4 year deal @ $8-$10 Mil per year with no guarantee that he'll always be the closer.
My point exactly Ron, which is why if I'm the Yankees I wouldn't even make the qualifying offer because he's not only not worth it but as I mentioned he'd get nothing close to that on the open market. $8-10M is a solid offer. And I'd make it 2-3 years with a TEAM option for a 4th. Take it or leave it.
and to think, some would take a job with the Yanx for FREE, not even Peanuts or Chetoos required....FREE.... but were getting to old to play the games we did as young men. Perhaps a loogy spit ball, ala Gaylord Perry, no pine tar, just loogy's....
