With 13 of 15 players looking to go into free agency next summer, I can't help but feel to an extent like this is a bit of a lame duck season for the Blazers. It just feels like there are going to be a ton of changes heading this way. I'm wondering if anyones else kinda feels that way too?
I don't see this as you do. But it all depends on where players energies like LA's are directed. Is he sincere when he says he likes this team, wants to stick aroun and winning is a top priority. Or is the money, the contract situation and where he is headed for next season more important? I have no concerns with guys like Rolo, Wes etc. They are going to ball no matter what.
I think we will be competitive, so that doesn't fit what I think of when I think of 'lame duck'. Definitely an evaluation season (aren't they all?) in the process of KICKING ASS, and I think Olshey will pull the trigger at any time if he can improve the team.
I honestly think and feel the team is set up for a very special season and none of that above matters. And in the end, they will be taken care of because that's just what Allen does.
A little yes. If CJ shows he can be starter material and play well along side Lillard this could be Mathews last season in a Blazers uniform.
I think Wes out of everyone gets the most out of himself and I think if there is improvement it's minimal. But I think if you get rid of him you are removing a big part of the heart from the team.
Not really. The term Lame Duck is used for people who can't come back. So they often are ineffective in getting things done. These free agents are all playing for something (A new contract) and most of them will be back.
It can cut one of two ways. If they aren't winning early and often, then it probably leads to discord and guys looking out for number one. If they start hot, then their collective good play might help all of them look better than they really are (the Spurs effect). No matter what happens, I think there are going to be a few guys who are dissatisfied with their role, but hopefully those are guys who don't matter anyway.
Blazers are in good shape going forward. I am thrilled they have a core that can become and stay elite. Bench players will come and go and this month we'll see who gets the Babbit/Nolan Smith treatment and who sticks. I thought lame duck season meant the BRoy/Oden era or the UofO's offensive line
I see it more as a rabid beaver season. Were going to hit a stride and kick ass. Picture an excited beaver foaming at the mouth.
Oshey says the Blazers are going into their third year of the plan. Since so many players are in their contract year. They should play hard. After that, who knows?
Ohh crap BGD is the only one who slightly agrees... I need to meditate and correct the alignment of my thoughts.
