Looks like miller is just not panning out to be a top 6 guy. Wouldn't mind seeing him on wing in the bottom 6
if they're not going to play in NY, let them get the PT in Hartford...Can't believe JT Miller is only 21. He seems to have been around forever. Time is on his side.
Yeah, he was 19 back when Torts was riding him for those 20-something games. I was at the game he scored those 2 against the Isles. Seems like eons ago but 31 is right, he has time and hopefully he will keep maturing and working hard. ive always thought of him as a C but after this preseason I think I agree with what others have said...he is better suited on the wing. He's said in interviews he's more comfortable there. It also seems like defensive lapses and poor positioning are what's keeping him from regular playing time, which are prime responsibilites at C. If he's given a little more freedom as a winger and allowed to use his size and throw some hits, he may develop into a Dubinsky type player as Al said awhile ago. Former C who just wasnt creative and/or responsible enough but very serviceable as a 2nd or 3rd line big winger. Hayes is the guy who's going to be the 3rd C and I think that's a good move. He is much more creative and has more hockey sense. I like what I've seen out of him and he's going to get a long look. Only knock against him is he's kind of a plodding skater but we'll see what he can do.
Miller will end up being a vg 4th liner/fringe 3rd liner, but he's not a C in the NHL. He dosen't do anything particularly well and his offensive instincts just aren't that good.
think to much optimism regarding JT. AV has very short fuse with him. AV and Torts before him have some similarities. When they don't like how a player plays the game, they move on very quickly. Patience isn't one of AV's strong suit. He clearly prefers a vet over a youngster ala Torts.
AV is on crack. Keeps playing this bubbling idiot Glass over these two guys. Glass does not bring anything to the table. Waste of a roster space. At least Miller and Fast have an upside. Let them learn at the NHL level.
They'll keep Glass in most nights since he's the only one not capable of getting his assss kicked in a fight. McIlrath would be that guy but he can't play at the nhl level.
71, i need to see Big Mac play more than 2 games before I'd say that he can't play at this level. Wish they would give the kid 10 games and see where he is. I'm sick of watching Klein, hunwick and costa already who have no upside. Beuk says the kid can play and I think its time AV develops a young player on d who we spent a top 10 pick on and stop playing the retreads on the right side.
You have to remember that although you see these players for 240 minutes in a week coaches see these guys everyday and evaluate based on not just games.
Fair enough Mel, but by now you'd think he'd be getting his shot if he was anywhere near ready. They wouldn't have gotten both of Kotska/Hunwick in the offseason, maybe one for a little experience. It's encouraging i guess that Buekaboom says that but I have doubts about him being more than a call-up guy through his career.
