Just for fun I just worked out our young reserves, Trob, CJ, Will, Meyers and Freeland's per 36 numbers in preseason here's what we got.

    CJ
    16.3pts - 4.0reb - 1.6ast

    Will
    15.7pts - 5.7reb - 3.7ast - 1.1bk

    Freeland
    12.4pts - 10.8reb - 2.5ast - 0.4bk

    Robinson
    8.4pts - 11.4reb - 1.0ast - 1.0bk

    Leonard
    17.8pts - 9.7reb - 3.0ast - 1.3bk

Discuss.. and Yes I realize many of you will use this as proof of the inadequacy of our bench, and I am sure someone will trot out NBA2k15 numbers as proof of something.

I know it's a small sample size and only preseason, but it kind of confirms what we know about these guys.

C.J. is a scoring guard, not a PG.

Freeland is solid, but unspectacular all around.

Robinson is very limited/raw offensively, but a great rebounder.

Leonard is talented offensively, and decent rebounder, better suited to a stretch 4 than a center.

Don't suppose you have Kaman's per 36 preseaon numbers handy?

He regressed offensively last year. I think it was mostly a lack of confidence. If you watched him in preseason, you would see he was shooting without hesitation. In most games, he started out cold, missing his first few shots, but kept shooting and finished strong. Last season, if he missed his first one or two shots, he stopped shooting and passed up wide open shots.

The rebounding number isn't surprising. He actually averaged more REB/36 (11.3) last season. That was the one area he improved last season. Everyone was so down on him, I think most overlooked his improved rebounding. They were so determined to bash the guy, they refused to admit he was doing anything right. So, what we're starting to see now is his natural offensive talent combined with his improved rebounding. The kid is still a project with a long way to go, but the prices are starting to come together.

Not necessarily efficient, but certainly a jack of all trades. Makes you wonder if he ever gets enough minutes, if he'll post a 5x5 game.

I'm still a little hesitant on Leonard. I would really love for him to change my mind. I want to cheer for him.

It's OK to temper your expectations. Remember he's still very young. He will make mistakes and he will have games where he flat out sucks, but as long as the general trend is one of improvement, he's right on schedule. When he was drafted, I said it would be 3 or 4 years before he would be ready to be a solid contributor. This is the start of his 3rd season and he's showing progress. He will get more minutes, which is what he needs most to continue to improve. Be patient and look at the big picture. He's still years away from entering his prime. He's currently 9th or 10th man, not someone you depend on to bring it every night.

Except when it comes to shooting. Will never met a shot he didn't like.
