I think it started off at like 9.5, it'll probably go down a little more.

    Gone Girl has 8.5
    Nightcrawler has 8.3
    Fury has 8.1
    John Wick has 7.9

So according to IMDB, 4 movies currently in theaters are in the top 250 best movies of all time, with John Wick narrowly missing out. Point is that IMDB ratings don't mean much, especially this early.

IMDB is 10s of thousands of SlyPokerDogs giving it an early rating.

I can't say anything about the movie. I want to see it next weekend. ;)

You can tell where they are going to land if you are used to watching it. Interstellar is basically guaranteed to stay in the top 25 at this point. 120k votes and still 9.1/10

I'm going to go see it tonight

People rating it on IMDB right after they see it means nothing to me. With movies like this, critic ratings are what matter.

Interstellar is rated worse than Gone Girl, Nightcrawler, Fury, and Birdman, which are all potential Oscar winners.

Critic ratings hardly ever matter to me because I find that too often they are subjective. That is why I take statistics over published opinion. I actually heard of some one complaining that there was not enough action in interstellar, as if it is that persons duty to decide how much action is the amount we need.

Also where are you seeing that it is rated worse? The meta score or whatever? If so see previous statement.

I agree people rate movies higher right after viewing. I'm guilty of this myself but I personally go back and fix it later if it was too high. I actually only have one movie I would consider 10/10 on the movie alone, (Avatar is 10/10 if experience is taken into consideration) and that movie is The Shawshank Redemption. Now I could probably talk myself into giving Shawshank a 9, just like how I could talk myself into giving The Godfather a 10. I don't have a laid out set of guidelines, there's no science to it.

Overall I feel happy with the other movies I've seen on the imdb top 250. There hasn't been a movie from that list that I haven't enjoyed.

If you like science fiction you will like it. I'm glad I saw it with my dad. When you see the movie you'll understand why.

There are lots of movies that didn't get a very high rating on IMDB that I have really enjoyed.
