Saw that on MLB TV about 30 minutes ago. according to Ron Darling D-rob is as great as sliced cheese. Also brought up in the same conversation is how teams were changing up roles that would make some one like D-rob obsolete. The man made a huge mistake passing on that offer or negotiating a possible 3 year deal at a fair price.

Let him walk, hey its not like we don't have another option. Question is though who would then become the set up guy Kelley?

I 2nd or 3rd that notion, let D-Rob walk, for turning down a offer, that was about double of what he is really worth. He's couldn't carrry MO's jockstrap, hat or cleats, so fk him for his greed beyond what is fair or normal. Let some other team deal with this kid, who is not on any level for any premiere Relievers. He will not live up to his pay or hype. D-Rob IMO, was or is, a set up man at best, or a middle innings long reliever. Not a starter not a Fireman either.

    Kelly sucks. Well, not exactly...

I've been waiting for this day/trend after Mariano retired.
Teams/YANKEES using bullpens by committee much more often during the course of the season.
Example: Have your best dominant guy available for the 9th, BUT DON'T BE AFRAID TO USE HIM in the 8th to douse a fire with the lead in jeapardy- then go with your favorable matchups/GUT to close out the 9th (with a clean start).

Mariano was the exception in more ways than one.
Very very consistent, very durable, no arm trouble- specific particular "out" pitch.

...first off, without an actual quote from someone I wouldn't read too much into this story.

...secondly, even if it is true, I wouldn't get worked up about it because this is pretty much how negotiations work...one side starts off with a number, the other side counters, and they meet somewhere in between.

and I thought he retired with Detroit about a decade ago. Amazing the umps never looked at his pine tar filled mit, when the cameras did, in his last W.S.

Or-we might be able to sign the other A-Rod, discount double check. He has pinpoint accuracy, arm speed strength, and could easily hurl a baseball with precision and flames....Yep, lets go play with Rodgers head, to come pitch in The Bronx, and become a dual sport athlete, ala Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, reggie Sanders, et al.
