    Think about it...

Damian Lillard - Drafted 6th overall, 2012 (Pick acquired from trading Gerald Wallace at the trade deadline)

LaMarcus Aldridge - Drafted 2nd overall, 2006 (Acquired from trading Tyrus Thomas (4th pick) and Viktor Khryapa on draft day)

Nic Batum - Drafted 25th overall, 2008 (Acquried from trading Joey Dorsey (33rd pick) and cash (?) on draft day)

Robin Lopez - Acquired via trade with Pelicans for Jeff Withey, a 2nd round pick and cash

We acquired players with potential that were acquired with basically 2nd round picks and cash:

    Allen Crabbe
    Thomas Robinson

We drafted players that fit team needs and have shown some promise this season:

    CJ McCollum
    Meyers Leonard

Finally, we can't forget our free agent pickups:

Wes Matthews - Signed a five-year, $34 million offer sheet when most people around the NBA looked at us like idiots

    Chris Kaman
    Steve Blake

Joel Freeland is another good draft pick.
We did make some mistakes also but Neil in particular has been stellar IMO

Since 2006 we haven't made many mistakes IMO

Brandon Roy was a great draft day trade, give me 4-5 years of Roy over a career of Foye.

Greg Oden was just unfortunate injuries... No one can fault them for taking a dominant 7 footer (from what we saw in college).

Jerryd Bayless was a decent draft day trade, he just wasn't used correctly under McMillan.

Now... 09-11 was a bit rough but we had a "championship potential" core at the time... Claver, Elliot Williams and Nolan Smith were never going to be big minute guys anyway.

Oden before Durant Was a mistake.
Drafting Nolan. Trading for Felton. Even Drafting Bayless.
Not saying I knew better but these were mistakes.

Neil made very few obvious mistakes and many amazing moves.
I think his biggest, most obvious mistake has been to not extend TRob.

Why is that a mistake? If the team wants T-Rob they will offer him less than he would have gotten. They are probably under the assumption that T-Rob will sign their offer. We now have an environment that players want to be in, and I think it will translate into keeping this group together.

Brand new top of the line training facility. A training staff that has shown to these players that they are elite at injury prevention. A head coach that all the players respect, likewise between the players. A front office that has shown it is capable of consistently taking steps forward. Great fan support (over rated category imo, I doubt players ever think of fan support when deciding if they want to play somewhere). Don't forget a winning team!

Faried over Smith was such a no-brainer! I'd love to hear the story behind this.

According to Ford and Simmons more than one team had Oden's knee red-flagged so KP's "Oden's knees are prestine" was a blatant lie.

The Bulls have done pretty well.

DRose, Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, Mirotic, McDermott, Noah, etc., through the draft.

Gasol is old but having a great season, and had a great one last season... via FA.

The biggest red flag with oden is they were worried his body was breaking down. That he had the body of a vet, not a 19 year old.
He hadn't recovered from his broken right wrist in the Orlando summit, and had a minor bulging disk in his back.
I seriously doubt anyone would have passed on Oden because of how dominate he was in college. How it translated to the NBA so well.
    Hindsight is 20-20

Also Bill Simmons is an idiot. Every time he talks my ears bleed.

Aldridge also had red flags btw. Had hip surgery his freshman year at Texas.

That was truly the only mistake that wasn't hindsight. Everyone and their red headed step kids knew that was a mistake

That was 2009. The Claver draft. A K-Pee pick.

    yes, PatterNash.

But, yeah, I'm very happy with Neil. I am going to wait 10 more games before I email Simmons telling him to "suck it!" because of his criticism of Kaman.

What's amazing about Olshey is what he hasn't done. Coming in as a GM you want to put your name on a team. Make moves that shows everyone that you're the man. But Olshey has made very few moves.
