Yeah, that never gets old, either.

Unlike you, I actually addressed the topic of the thread and provided reasons why the OP's question was a valid one. But, whatever...

And, in spite of those impressive wins, Hollinger's playoff odds STILL have the Rockets missing the playoffs. So, how about you get off the OP's ass and actually tell us why you think Hollinger's playoff odds are asinine and why the Rockets are a sure fire lock to make the playoffs. You know, actually contribute something to the thread...

hollingers BEST CASE PROJECTION has the wolves finishing 43-39, their first season over .500 in over a decade.

in reality they are projected to have the 2nd worst record in the league

rockets could very well make the playoffs, its not their fault they are beating shitty teams, but they probably should be beating them by more. they have a nice cushion built up at this point though, even if they start losing a few of these closer games

who said sure fire lock? Eric started this thread when they were 8-3 cause they lost to the Lakers. They are now 11-3 and are winning without their best player. They could miss the playoffs, but there is no reason to think they will at this point

Fair point. We'll see how it goes. All we can do is follow our respective teams closely and snark at each other when the inevitable Houston/Blazers games come up. :ghoti:

You implied it when you called this thread asinine. If they are not a sure fire lock then there is nothing ridiculous about this thread.

So, if they aren't a sure fire lock, why is discussing the possibility they will miss the playoffs asinine?

Hollinger lists their odds at making the playoffs at slightly under 50%. Again, why is discussing the possibility they will miss the playoffs asinine?

Last year, when the Blazers got off to a hot start, you kept insisting they were an average team that benefited from an easy schedule, would finish at .500 and miss the playoffs. You were wrong. Why was that not asinine, but the possibility that the Rockets will miss the playoffs this year is, after a similar hot start and an even easier schedule?

I don't see the Rockets missing the playoffs. But that's just my gut voodoo chile feeling. Or indigestion, not sure which. ;)

Their strength of schedule has been wimpy. They've had key players hurt. Maybe those two things balance out. Meanwhile, 11-3 is a pretty good record. They would have to take a major nose dive.

I love how they lost so many key players and got next to nothing back. But they still have two all stars and time to get healthy and jell in time for the playoffs. Still, I don't fear them at all at the moment.

    That would be groovy.

Especially since no lottery pick for the Rockettes.

I think MM's point, and I kind of get it, is that Dwight hasn't played all 14 games, and that affects their margin of victory. Their strength of schedule is still shite, but maybe their MOV would have been better if Dwight had been playing.

Injuries are part of the game. They have a starting center with a history of recent injury problems and they gave away his more than capable back up for a future draft pick that won't do anything to help them make the playoffs this year.

Yes, if healthy, Houston has a good chance to make the playoffs, but so do at least 9 other teams in the West. Given their thin roster, incredibly easy schedule, small margin of victory and the injury history of their best player, I don't see how discussing the possibility they will miss the playoffs is even remotely asinine. Calling the OP's thread asinine was more of a personal attack than a well thought out rebuttal of the merits of his position.

So starting a thread about Portland might not make the playoffs wouldnt be asinine? Same record, injuries could happen.

The Lakers might make the playoffs.

It was 11 games into the season, for fucks sake.

I think BNM's point was you used SOS last season to give you proof that Portland's record isn't good evidence on Portland's turn around, but you used the record and weak schedule to support Houston making it.

And yes, you can start a thread on Portland not making the playoffs, and many can use Hollinger's playoff prediction to support their argument to your thread.
