#Yankees working on 3-team deal w/ AZ and DET to land SS Didi Gregorius. Hearing Shane Greene would go to DET, Tigers sending 2 P's to AZ.

    Per Sweeny Marti

    What do you all think?

I hope this deal is a rumor, I like Greene think he's got a good future.

Didi is young so you knew we would have to give up something decent to get him. I would rather have Castro but I am ok with Didi.

Greene was someone the fans could cheer for and look forward to next season, I guess they figure CC is going to step up huge so the could let Greene go *^&%&^$^%$$%^.

A light hitting so-so fielding SS with no power for a pitcher with a good future. ANOTHER desperate foolish move by Cashman. We're better off with Drew.

I like the trade and Didi is young. Cashman is not done. I think now he will try to sign Miller, McCarthy and Scherzer.

...DiDi comes very cheap, is under team control till 2020, and gives the Yanx some flexibility moving ahead. If he does well, great...if he doesn't, they can go another direction.

...like I said, I hate to lose Greene but this would seem to me to be a sure sign that Cashman will replace Greene with perhaps one of the big FA pitchers.

    _________________________________________

    I don't like the deal -
Shane Greene who is also young has shown himself to be more than DECENT in his first season with the Yanks.

What exactly does Didi do well?
    Being a "good" defensive SS?
Looking at his offensive numbers and not being a significant SB threat, he BETTER be at least a "good" defensive SS.

Yanks are giving up a young SP in Greene who in his first and only 14 starts with the Yanks posted a 3.78 ERA and averaged 9 Ks per 9 IP.

Didi - has yet to play in more than 103 G in a season, .243/..313/.366
Has hit 13 career HRs in 647 ABs,
He's stolen a grand total of 3 bases in 5 attempts in his 724 career PA.

He has a .313 career OBP, hasn't even shown himself to a significant SB threat, and isn't known as a defensive whiz.
    Is this a joke?

And we're trading a young pitcher who has done reasonably well for his first 14 ML starts?
With Tanaka's elbow still a question? Nova? CC? McCarthy who knows? Capuano?
Pineda has shown to be injury prone.

I would expect more than Didi Gregorius in exchange for giving up on Greene.

By giving Greene up in this trade signal that other pitchers are coming in? I think it does...

...Greene really has not a large enough sample size to tell one way or another what he is. But he's also been erratic, has also been lit up in a few games, walks way too many batters, and is not very good fielding his position.

I agree Majorball. My fantasy would be two of Scherzer, Lester and McCarthy.

Didi Gregorius = a decent fielder with no bat, no speed & no power. If this is our starting SS for 2015 I'd rather go with Drew, at least he has some pop. JMO.

...based on what?...certainly not last year...in fact Gregorius hit HRs at a higher rate than Drew last year...DiDi is still very young and is still learning...Drew has zero upside.
...why pay Drew millions when Gregorius cost peanuts?
