What's your opinion on Crabbe? Do you think he can make a jump with scoring with more burn?

Also, CJ can score and I'm a little hesitant to bring anyone that may take away from Crabbe and CJ's development.

I don't understand why you're contrasting Kaman with Hawes. The premise of the thread is using other assets to get Hawes to play alongside Kaman, not in place of him.

How does this happen? Like who would the Blazers give up?

    Doesn't Kaman have a no-trade clause?

Yeah it's called "Olshey ain't stupid provision"

Section 10, provision 4b: "Prohibit to make deals in which the GM shall but not limited to express interest, trades, or release said player(s) or coaching staff that will completely fuck up chemistry, strength or the damn fucking team itself"

The OP suggested Robinson as a starting point, thinking that his game would be a better fit in "Lob City" than it is here.

    What would you suggest?

My opinion on Crabbe is that he needs to improve dramatically on his handle to be able to create his own shot, which is what we need. For example, having scoring is is great, but if all your scorers are spot up 3 point shooters, then no one will score.

CJ has better handles, but if you think the Blazers have any kind of real shot to compete for a title, then developing players should be a mute point.

I don't think we have the players, which we would be willing to give up, that Clippers would want.

Most likely the Clipps would want Robinson, as the starting point you mentioned, plus CJ or Leonard. I don't know if Olshey would even consider that.

I agree about Crabbe, but I think he's a solid bench player. Of course he won't be a "go to scorer", but I could see him on the leak outs and wide open Threes.

I see CJ being that bench scorer that can create their own shot. Only time will help him in this regard.

As for development... I know all of us are talking championship. But we gotta realize we are playing with "house money". Olshey says we are a year ahead of schedule, which I believe means, we are supposed to be contenders in a year or two. With that said, I think CJ will be that guy.

If he will be that guy, then great. However, if you think you have a shot now, then try to win now. Who knows what will happen next year

Robinson/Leonard for Hawes? I certainly hope he'd consider that.

He absolutely wouldn't. Do you think that makes him a bad GM?

No. If that were the case, I would disagree with him, but one poor decision would not make someone a bad GM.

However, I think you're overreaching if you think you can definitively declare what Olshey would/wouldn't consider. I am curious though why you're so certain on this.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3211/spencer-hawes

In 18 minutes, Hawes is netting 7 points, 41FG%, 4.5 rebounds and 0.7 blocks. Has a PER of 13.46

We are talking about his 3 point shooting as a benefit. Well the dude is shooting 34%. That's not bad, but its hardly "deadly". Then you factor that his defense is suspect and I bet there would have been a ton of fans pretty pissed off with his performance.

On the flipside, we have our Chris Kaman

    http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/1982/chris-kaman

In 19 MPG, Kaman is averaging 10 PPG, 50% FG, 6.8 RPG and 1.1 blocks. He has a PER of 18.65 <--- Now that's sexy!

For those that suggest Hawes as a replacement for Joel Freeland.
    http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3004/joel-freeland

    plays 10 MPG and averages 3 PPG, 47.5%, 3.6 RPG, 0.2 Blocks and a PER of 11.14

What it doesn't show is freehand's ability to box out, defend and play within the Stotts's system.

I think I would pass if I was Olshey...

Because I believe that he has a high value for Leonard and CJ. They are both his picks, and I remembered that he spoke about both players highly when the season started. Another, would probably be how he picked up CJ and Leonard's option.

Now if there was a rumor that it was only Robinson and Barton; he would probably jump on it like flies on shit.

How many GMs answer the question of why they made a trade with "because I wanted to"? I don't see a real reason why a trade is warranted at the moment. We are improved upon last year and the players have bought in, trading some one would do nothing but send a message that the management doesn't think they are able to win as is. I think they are able to win, I think Olshey thinks they are able to win. I don't expect any changes, but I guess it's fun to ponder the possibilities.

Keep the group together, preserve the confidence and build the future on said confidence which continues to grow.
