Those of you clamoring for Nico to save his energy and not play for his national team are just being unrealistic.

Realistic or not, it's still a problem. He's basically wearing his body down, like players that go to the finals every year. The amount of energy your body needs to recover is very taxing on the body.

If any regular person was allowing extracurricular activities to affect their work performance, they would be fired.

If he wants to continue to play for France that's fine. But since it appears to be affecting his current year performance, we should look at trading him while another team might still be a sucker for his "potential"

Please keep in mind that Batum would still be part of a union.

So representing your country is an "extracurricular activity"....? Wow.... Shameful post IMO.

I think it's fair to question whether highly paid NBA players should compete in FIBA games. The Olympic games, however, I think they should be allowed to play in. As to Nico's value, I think he's a critical piece to our starting lineup even with his shot flat recently. Steals, blocks, transition baskets and defensively he's an asset. Allan Crabbe however, is knocking at the door for a starting spot. Nic may be more effective coming off the bench with Kaman and Blake.

Batum already looked worn out and beat up playing on the French team this summer. It's not getting better.

Oh please, take that nationalistic crap out of here. It's not related to nba. It's not part of his job and it's clearly affecting his performance this season, so yes, it's extracurricular. We aren't talking about military service here. He isn't defending his country.

Plenty of players in the NBA that played in FIBA this summer are playing just fine.

    Batum is just underwhelming, sorry.

Remember a year or two ago when it was a great thing Batum played summer basketball and supposedly took his game to another level by leading France to a championship? Remember how good it was supposed to be for him?

Now since he's struggling, all of the sudden it is bad for him?

You guys really need to make your minds up. The excuses are beyond ridiculous at this point.

Scottie Pippen is not walking through that door.

I have never supported Batum playing overseas. Your generalization is as shitty as your posts

Such as? Most of the Americans played limited minutes because the roster is so deep.

How is Paul George doing by the way?

    LOL

Seriously though, Batum was already worn out after the playoffs. Watching him this summer he was already burned out and banged up and struggling to lead his French team. Now he comes back and is having his worst season, ever. Take a freaking summer vacation, Nic.

Really?? Take it out of here? I know your a mod but you aren't going to moderate that statement... Bottom line that "nationalistic crap" as you call it, is the complete reason why Batum plays in that tournament. And you aren't going to change that so why invest energy in being pissed about it?

I distinctly remember people making positive statements about Batum's improvement over that summer. Who's gonna go through all those posts trying to find them? Are you...?
