Did mizzou pitch baseball towards him as well? That was one of the key reasons he committed. Now what do we do?
Only one DB spot left at DB. Still have an outside shot at Tell. May bring in Meagers or Hawkins in for a visit. Only a handful of visits left so tricky.. unless you believe that it doesn't matter to get more players into visit.
Tyrone Wheatley Jr. out of NY will be visiting Oregon on Jan 30th. Supposedly we want him on D. So we can get two Long defenders, and Manu in the middle. TW would be a DeForest, Kanton an Arik. Edit: Also, we are looking really good with Kirk Merritt. But he had a kid born recently...maybe he wants to get out of the LA area with kid?
Seems like he we can never nab that highly rated linebacker. I have no problem with Walker or Mattingly. Durant sure would have been nice though.
If thats what you think I wrote I truly feel sorry for you. 10 visits left is two full handfuls. 3 spots available, 4 if Merritt comes. Historical closing rate of about 2 OVs per commit and it's still likely that one or more of those 3 spots is taken by someone who has already visited. Sounds like it's SC & Oregon for Houston. Tell is said to be declaring in the next few days as well. The home school is almost always the favorite, but each situation is also unique... we shall see STOMP
Lovely. Also Canton is blowing up UA practices. Maybe an extra star is in order? So, what's our standing with targets? Any of note or they all gojng elsewhere?
Top prospect Ykili Ross is setting up his final OV to Eugene in mid January... rivals insider types relay he's been high on Oregon for some time STOMP
I believe he is planning to commit most likely to USC) prior to his oregon visit. so unlikely to us, we would have to flip him after, which is more difficult. Never mind the coaching pressure to cancel that visit after his commitment.
Sounds like he maybe a back up plan in case Houston and Woods dont succeed. Also. No new news on 247 recruiting wise. What's the word on Folau out in Utah? Still, he has some decent size to him. But we are up against Miami and Michigan state. And they have dkne a good job with LBs. In your opinion daigotsu, who do you think will be used for the last spots in our class? I think Kirk Merritt is a lock for oregon
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Tyrone-Wheatley-140410 per a rivals video interview, he calls Don Pellum a "great coach" and says DP has come out to visit him on the East Coast a "ton of times". Once again a top flight prospect has been a long time target of Oregon yet we didn't hear boo about it until the very end STOMP
At this point I think we a better shot at Beckner or even Gallimore than Green. Also, I know Kirk M. Is a lock. But who will be in our final spots? 1-2 LBs and a DB/DT of some kind...
Oh hey new forum layout. Also, news on Christian Folau. He's big on us and high chance he visits us in January. I like our chances with him.
we've officially offered Folau, I strongly suspect he'll commit, as woods will stay at UCLA and we'll probably miss out on houston. Though we would take Houston and Folau.
per a week old rivals interview... Mike Farrell of rivals -"Of the 4 schools you've gone on officials to (USC scheduled Jan 16), what Defense do you see yourself fitting in best with?" John Houston - "It would have to be Oregon or ASU. They have the most aggressive defenses". He went on to call the Eugene campus "amazing" MF- "Everybody in the world tells you 100 times a day you're going to USC, what do you have to say about that?" JH - "I just say you're kind of wrong because at this point I don't know where I'm going... with each visit it's getting harder and harder. Following the last visit (USC), I'm going to take the last two weeks and really think about it and get everything together in my head" MF - "Of the 4 schools you've visited, which one would be the biggest threat to USC if you had to pick one?" JH - "Pretty much have to be Oregon. Oregon is a great school. I just like coach Don Pellum. He's a great coach and I just love how he teaches Defense" MF - "Any package deal with you and Rasheem Green?" JH - "Nah, not in the works. We're just dealing with our own recruiting right now and we'll get back to each other later on. " he closed by saying both he and Rasheem will likely be signing day announcements STOMP
