As things stand now (meaning, not counting tonights Blazer game), the Blazers are 10 losses ahead of the Thunder. 24-7 vs 15-17.

That means that the Thunder will have to outpace the Blazers by 11 games over the remaining 50 games, to pass them in the division.

I will edit this and repost it in a new thread if the Blazers win tonight.

Right now, Portland is 24-7. Let's assume they go .500 the rest of the way. They have 51 games left, so let's just say 25-26 since I'm doing this as if they've played 31 games instead of after tonights game being 32.

That would mean 49-33. OKC would have to go 35-15 to pass the Blazers up. Again, as I've said in the other posts where I do this, not unreasonable for the Thunder to win at a 70% clip (57 games over 82).

If Portland plays .55 ball the rest of the way (28-23) that would be 52-30. OKC would have to go 38-12 to be 1 game better than Portland (53-29). 38-12 is winning at 74%, or approx 61 games per 82.

If Portland plays .600 ball the rest of the way (30-21), they would be 54-28. OKC would have to go 40-10 to be 1 game better (55-23). 40-10 is winning at 80%, or approx 65 wins per 82.

If Portland plays .65 ball the rest of the season (33-18) they would be 57-25. OKC would have to go 43-7 over their last 50 games to pass Portland. That is 86% and 70 wins per 82.

If Portland plays .70 ball the rest of the season (~35-16) they would be 59-23. OKC would have to go 45-5 over their last 50 games to pass Portland. That is 90% and almost 74 wins per 82.

If Portland continues at it's current pace of 77%, which is unlikely, that would be 39-12. Or 63 total wins. For OKC to pass the Blazers up, they would have to win 64 games. And to go from 15-17 to 64-18, they would have to go an impossible 49-1. That extrapolates to an 80-2 record over 82 games.

This, remember, is based on Portland being 24-7 and the Thunder being 15-17.

It IS still possible for OKC to pass Portland up, but with each Blazers win (and/or OKC loss) it gets that much harder.

So who's on top in various power rankings tomorrow? Warriors lost twice this week including to the Lakers. Griz lost twice. Rockets likely would have been but lost tonight on poll eve.

Blazers possibly in position to get some #1 love.

Well of course they did. Josh Smith is a cancer with 2/7 shooting, 4 turn overs and an implosion when the game mattered the most.

They should have just stuck with Brewer

Well considering 2 of those losses were to the great contending team Blazers, and the other against another contending team Memphis, I gotta give them a pass

lmao... they are tearing into each other.

Best part? "It was the defending champions on their court. Hard to win"

Lillard and the Blazers would like a moment of your time...

    I like this gem

Smith came to Houston because he was promised a starting position. Imagine if McHale brought him off the bench? Implosion?!?!

Beverley is ready to implode: "Houston guard Patrick Beverley was issued a technical and had to be restrained after going face-to-face with official Scott Twardowski over a non-call with 9:41 left in the third. Beverley charged at the official after lying on the floor and holding his side in pain for about five seconds after being hit on a screen. Minutes later, Beverley was arguing with someone on the Spurs' bench prior to an inbounds. Beverley also had to be restrained after approaching the officials after the game."

Their board has such a victims mentality.

LMA averages 40 in the first two games - the refs are screwing them.

Dame dominates their guards - Bev was playing with a few broken ribs and the flu.

Without the flopping Harden wouldn't aversge 20. A poor-man's Brandon Roy.

They wouldn't annoy me so much if they went so hilariously blind about the flopping and the refs. They seriously cry about the refs after every loss, meanwhile Harden is averaging like 10 FTA per game.
