This is what I'm talking about as well. We need inside scorers and players that had legit playoff experience. Jerm has played many playoff games and knows how to battle, especially in the post.

I think fans are forgetting how important getting post scoring is in the playoffs. Having the ability to slow the game down when needed is essential.

Oneal has a total of 2577 minutes played in the post season! That would be more minutes than our entire team combined!

You can never have enough dudes on the bench that can actually come in and play, im all for it.

I'm all for this move! I think it would be great but what the Blazers really need is another scorer off the bench
He will probably play PF more and it will be see ya later TRob with another in a trade.

If we dump Robinson for Jermaine, I'm gonna be PISSED.

The question for me is how long will it take J.O to get up to speed. Is he in game shape? By then will Joel be back?
I guess it can't hurt picking him up. Not sure how much it will help. I assume they would release Claver and let him go somewhere he can play. But I also would think Dallas will be the winner in this one.

Jerm would be nice playoff insurance and as another mentor for Leonard. We'd have to cut or trade Claver or Barton to sign him. I'm OK with that. Or trade TRob for something of real future value.

The downside is if Jermaine takes minutes away from Freeland and from Leonard's development, and then we end up needing them in the playoffs, but they aren't ready because they haven't played.

The smart money would seem to point to him going to Dallas.

For one, yes. No way in hell that JO comes in and improves on the overall package that Meyers and/or Joel has already given us this season. They've already earned their spots and are a huge part of our awesome record.
Our team, as is, will be a far more versatile and effective team in the playoffs if we stand pat.

It's crazy that few of you learned anything from 5 years of the Nate system of promising young talents being pushed aside for crotchety, old vet retreads that come in and piss off the bench and some of the starters while slowing down our offense. JO in particular was a whiny locker room distraction the last year he played for us, was an extraordinary embarrassment to the league in the fan attack fiasco at Indiana, and would set us back yet another year.

Why? We would likely get a small asset or package him with someone to grab a wing scorer instead of just letting him walk at year end

Again and again, my point is proven.

Who is the MORON who got rid of Juwan Howard?

I'm with you, wookee. I think many fans here are letting their nostalgia cloud their judgment. JO would be a downgrade over Leonard/TRob, he just wont have it physically anymore.

I don't think he would even provide any more veteran leadership/mentorship that we already have.

    Net loss in my opinion.

Things would remain normal if a free agent getting national attention and being pursued by multiple teams went to a big market instead of Portland.

Jermaine would be a nice pickup. It's not the end of the world if he doesn't sign.

Yep and if he didn't get injured, GS may have made it to the second round
