OK, ok, i meant BROOK Lopez!!! (could someone change the title?) Or did I miss it? Of course he is grossly overpaid for who he seems to be now and it would soon put Paul Allen into luxury tax hell. But wouldn't it be nice to put the brothers together? And wouldn't it be possible Brook is still rounding into shape and would play better with his brother and a new team? Can either of the brothers act as a power forward? OK, here is the trade: Robinson, McCollum, Leonard (or Freeland) and Dorell Wright for Lopez.
Actually in his last ten games he is shooting .545 and has 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks playing only 24 minutes. that is not too shabby!
Brook and Robin on the floor at the same time is a disaster defensively. They're both slow, prodding centers that would get killed by stretch 4s and small guards.
Brook is better than Kaman, but more fragile and 4x the cost. It would also take at least Nic + to match up salaries (or gutting almost the entire bench, as in Kaman+Robinson+CJ+Meyers - level gutting)
Costs too much. Injured too much. Pity, because he is good and it would be cool to have both Lopez Bros.
Kaman, Robinson, CJ works $$ worse. Opens 2 roster spots, can sign Jermaine as insurance, and farmar as 3rd string pg.
Now that Aldridge is out, is it time to try to make a deal for Brook Lopez? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m4dm5w4
Contract is crazy high for production (don't care what the PER says) but it is a lot shorter in length then I thought it would be before looking. I down.
Only in that he'll start for a few games while we wait for Freeland and Rolo to come back (games we're already the underdog in because we are missing 3 starters). But Brook is way better than Kaman, which reduces his pressure a bit. Frankly, I think he should be starting anyway; his game is the closest to LA's off the bench.
When Robin comes back? Robin. At least until his hand heals up "really good"... i.e., this summer when we determine who to keep and who to let go.
