I didn't really follow her music career but she was very easy on the eyes. As was one of my favorites Crystal Gayle, with hair down past her knees. And BTW: Emmylou is still nice to look at at 65,http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/22/booming/a-full-circle-for-emmylou-harris.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 And here the gorgeous Crystal in her hey day. I was nuts about her,
Yes, even Nicolette Larsen, who I preferred more than Gayle, (Loretta Lynn's little sister), did have great beautiful long long hair, but no women I have ever seen, has had hair touching the floor (damn near), like that of Crystal Gayle....nice touch Rick...! I had a serious crush on Emmylou throughout the 70s, when I first saw her play with GP and the ex Elvis Band, "The Fallen Angels Band" hired by GP after Elvis died. Even meeting her in person, which I've noted several times in other prior posts. During a public appearance, at a Luxury Liner LP promotion, sweepstakes for a Cruise.....got several excellent close up 8X10 Pics, and a few others, as well as some close ups of her performing. Still on the walls of my office/study....and music room.... this story could go on and on.....but I'm trying to condense my Novels into short stories, LMAO....!!! Brothers Karamazov, not War and Peace....the 1st a classic great mystery novel, the last the most boring POS book I've read.
...Nicolette Larson?...I had a huge crush on "Nicky" and still do. I have all of her albums and even had a picture of her hanging on my wall for years. She was a very under-rated talent and a natural beauty who seldom wore make up. ... She worked and was close friends with Emmy Lou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Young, The Doobies, Jimmy Buffett, Mike McDonald, Christopher Cross, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dolly Parton, Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen, as well as many others. ...it broke my heart when she suddenly died...cried like a baby.
Great Pic and Post on Nicolette 59. When she was singing with Neil Young, and did His cover of "Lotta Love", Nicky took that tune to new heights which Neil Himself did not do and could not do....Her vocal range was incredible, and few could do as much as Nicky...! God Bless Nicky, she was 1 of a kind, and like you said, versatile enough to work alongside any musician....one of the greatest talents of our time, taken way to young indeed. Sad.... It was Brain Cancer wasn't it 59, that took her life in about her mid 40s????? Plus didn't she have 4 kids, with Russ Kunkel??? The Goddess Herself, what a picture.....!
...as far as I know, she only had one child (Elsie Mae) and I'm not sure who the Father was. She was married to Andrew Gold before Russ Kunkel, who is one of my favorite drummers. ...and from what I remember, it was some sort of brain edema that put her in the hospital...where she eventually dies. ...her duet with Mike McDonald was one of the most perfect matches of a male and female voice I've ever heard;
Rob, Larson died on December 16th 1997 at the young age of 45 as a result of complications arising from cerebral edema triggered by liver failure. According to a friend, Larson had been showing symptoms of depression & the fatal seizure was in no small way related to her chronic use of valium & tylenol PM. She was survived by her 2nd husband Russ Kunkel. Together they had one daughter (Elsie May) born in 1990.
Thank You Guys, for clarifying, the details of Nicolette's life. I didn't know she was married to Gold at all. 1 daughter, I wonder if she's ever done any singing. I'll have to look out for her, as I imagine her last name is Kunkel then? Thanks as much for the duet tune above.. I too always loved not only the song itself, but the impact behind the lyrics too.....Great stuff...!
...if that's what you now want to call it, fine...but I don't think it was taken that way...at least not by me.
