It's hard to imagine the team wouldn't discipline Werth in some manner given the nature of his transgressions and his status as a role model.

You know I cannot recall an Era when so many athletes, MLB, NFL, and NCAA, as well as NBA, with so may DUIs, DWI, possession of a controlled substance illegally, reckless driving with a loaded gun in the glove box. or just simply Athletes buying Super Cars, that can't go less than 120 mph. Wife beating et al. (altho' I believe Adrian Pederson got the raw end of a deal), with the Rice's incident/precedent just prior.

Had Pederson been in the South, the Deputy would of pulled the switch off the tree himself, and said: "looks like your kid needs to be taken back behind the barn". Good old Southern Style Family Values.

Maybe the recklessness is attributed to all the money these guys get. Who knows?

I have to agree, as big contracts enable guys like Verlander to drive a Lambo, Puig a Ferrari, et al....

Money indeed to often IS the root of all evil, in many cases.

Don't blame the money, blame the idiot making poor choices because they are (1) not intelligent and (2) lack self discipline. These guys are just morally bankrupt at worst or severely flawed at best. Money or not they would be finding trouble....the money means you just hear about it.

I know this is not permitted but I have to disagree with you here Tom, without the big money one would not be able to afford the 220 MPH Ferrari's or the 2-300.00 a day drug habits.

Of course the Money enables athletes to buy Super Cars. I've yet to see very few White Collar Workers drive a true Super Car, (Lambo, McLaren, Ferrari, Viper, Turbo Carreras, with BMW, coming out with a Super Car from Hell), tho' dollar for dollar IMO, the Vette is the Best Car for the Money.

However if it weren't about the money, I've never known anyone athlete or otherwise, get a speeding ticket in a Volkswagen, or other modern day cars, (other than most of those noted, as well as the Taurus SHO Turbo, the Selanne and other Epic Hi-Performance Mustangs, and a few others.....

what brings everything to one's attention is not just the atrocity of the DUI, or reckless driving, not the money enabling them to buy and drive Super Cars. It's the fact, the News will always have Athletes lives under a Heat Interrogation lamp. IMO, the money helps, but the stature of Athletes as Role Models, who failed & created just the opposite, is the root cause. Money helps, but being under a Microscope as a Role Model is the ticket that brings their mis-deeds to the News...

Nothing close then to what was Forecast?

Watching the news a day or 2 prior to its arrival, I swear those Weather Anchors, swore this would be the Armaggedon of all past snow storms, was supposed to set all kind of records.

Here it snows only about every 4th year, and the Weathermen never ever see snow coming. Hell, out here if you simply believe the opposite of what Weathermen say, your better off, than believing a damn word they say....!

Like I've said Rob, only baseball players & weathermen can be wrong 70% of the time & still get paid the big bucks.

It's mind boggling how there's a 2nd set of rules, and Hypocrisy for one set of social groups, and the other with a helluva lot of money......

A disparity, this is NOT Justice......its Capitalism at its worst....!

You don't need a Ferrari....lots of affordable cars that blast 100+ mph over speed limits Rick. And I've known too many people that didn't have the cash, but still had the expensive drug habits. Don't blame inanimate objects.....blame the human being.

You are welcome to disagree with me Rick. Just be open to admitting that your point of view needs to evolve. I don't disagree that money does create opportunities, but lots (most) of rich people aren't doing these destructive acts. That's why I say to place the blame squarely on the individual committing those acts.

Capitalism is an expression of the value of personal freedom....it has no "worst". Social justice is a straw man Matt's. There will always be people that sacrifice their freedoms in trade for personal advantage over others. Power is a product of consent, not leveraged...that second set of rules are Tyranny my friend. That's the goal of social justice...to disguise tyranny as capitalism.

Tom, all due respect you're the only one i know that can turn "Cat in the hat" into "War & peace"

Much of the money problems with more so the younger athletes is a case of to much to soon. which Is the point of my equation in post #6

I actually have no problem with anything you said Tom, and rather agree with you. The one tyranny debacle, that pisses me off, is a case my Sister is involved in right now. SlumLord Negligence suit, reported to the City Health and Safety Dept. Upon reporting over 28 serious House Defects, which my sis has reported to those Slumlords, went with no maintenance, fell upon deaf ears, and was harassed for asking for anything to get fixed. She had NO Heater for 7 years, black mold, you name it. So in retaliation, (which is illegal and the basis of her retaliation case, but in DEFENSE, since those Slumlords are bleeding Millionaires on paper, brought an eviction suit against her). With no real true merit, she cannot afford to defend herself with a Lawyer, or Public Defender. IN Civil cases like this, the slumlords filed, in retaliation, I see a huge disparity in our Justice System, which is in dire need of repair in Caly-Fon-Ya.

Should be a slam dunk case, as I'm going to represent her myself. Yet, still, no lawyer available, how in the hell is she supposed to pay the cheapest lawyer she could find for $400 an hour, which would of taken approximately 20+ hours to put the case together. Hell I've got 80 hours invested in this case, and want to puke over the tyranny I am too clearly seeing.

guess you hit the nail on the head after all.

Ah so then you do believe its the maturity, intelligence and character that is the issue, and not the money. Good man, I knew you'd get there.

Don't backslide now on me Rick. You can't attribute blame to an inanimate object. Bad character is independent of financial situation. You know this is true.

I know you have this need to always be right (insert smiley face here) but I stand by what I've said.

Just put a million dollars in the hands of someone who never had much & watch & see how foolish & stupid they get. Not always, but all to often.

Now repeat after me Tom, "You know Rick it really kills me to say this but, I have to agree with you, money & stupidity all to often go hand in hand".
