I look at it this way, Wilson now knows how MO felt after Gonzales blooped in a hit in game 7 in 2001.
...^^^yup, I see Wilson as a poor man's Michael Vick...a much better runner than a good decision making passer.
There's a bigger chance of something going wrong on a pass. It's second and goal from the one with a timeout. Put the game in the hands of your best player.
I agree Vic, 3 chances to get the ball in from the 1 yd line with not only one of the best rushes in the game (Lynch) but also one of the best rushing QBs in the game. Just a really bad decision.
Stop the hating on hockey Rick! Didn't watch the game, but heard some stats... Seattle over the course of the season had the ball on the 1 yard line 9 times, 7 of which were running plays, 5 of which to Lynch, 1 of which was a TD... Not saying it was the right call, but the numbers support the decision before the pick... But hindsight is 20/20.....
...lemme ask a simple question...if the play had been executed properly, would there even be a discussion?
But it didn't work and that's the point. The ball in the hands of your best player or a pass to a guy that should be bagging groceries?
...exactly, just as was pointed out earlier. It'a not so much the play calling was bad as the execution of the play itself. And you're absolutely right in saying that hindsight is "20/20"...but it gives the talking heads a way of justifying their jobs by giving them something to write about. ...jackels.
...yup, and that relates to the fact that the problem was not so much the decision to run a pass play, but instead, the fact that Wilson botched it.
...don't see the comparison, but whatever. The Pats' defense stepped up in the 4th quarter when it had to and their offense did too...Though I'm by no means a Pats fan, I think it's a shame that a bad play by the Sea Hawks is taking away what the Pats accomplished.
Again, which is why it was a bad play. Your asking Wilson to slip it into a tiny space. Perhaps if he had a Gronk to throw to. Not some skinny clown who after contact went flying like he had been blasted with a shotgun.
I agree with you there. What Brady did in the fourth was phenominal. Nobody should doubt his place in history.
...ahhh, I see, speculating is a one way street. ...and it doesn't matter who the receiver was, that's totally irrelevant...it was a poorly thrown pass.
...Wilson waited to long to throw the ball...the QB always has the option to throw the ball away...it's his job to read the coverage properly and if the play is not there he's taught to throw the ball in the second row of seats...he didn't. Just because a pass play is called does not mean that given the coverage he should force the pass at all costs. He tried to make something happened that was not there.
...still kinda makes you wonder how "the other shoe will drop" on the deflated footballs fiasco. Goodell is between a rock and a hard place. If they believe the Pats tampered with the balls, does he sully the leagues image further by disgracing the Pats and sanctioning them? ...I dunno, but if the Pats had lost the SB instead of winning it, it would make his decision much easier.
I think it really became much to do about nothing. I mean go back to the Ravens game. Baltimore held two separate 14 point leads and became the first playoff team to blow two leads like that in a game. Then against the Colts they could've played with a frisbee and they didn't belong on the field with the Patriots. In two games this season Brady vs Luck didn't matter as they were brutally run over in those games. Then yesterday you had the two best teams playing what was a great game.
...^^^ yup...and Ron Darling just brought up a good point...he said he thought the hate for the Pats was amusing and way over the top...he compared them to the other haters who despise the Yanx and Duke mostly because they're perennial winners...all 3 teams are very successful organizations. ...I guess that's what make them easy to hate for some people. ...hell, we all know how often we have to defend the "evil empire"... when we really shouldn't have to.
^^^^^Maybe, but to me its the combo of spygate & deflategate.... If it was just one, maybe... But come on.....
