There has been several rumors about each of the two wing players from Denver being on the block and Portland being a possible destination. Afflalo is generally considered to be a bit better of a player but is he the better for fit what Portland is in the need for?

    Stats:........Pts....Reb...Ast...Blk...TO/A....(this season)
    Afflalo......14.5...3.0...1..9....0.1...1.19/1
    Chandler..13.9...5.2....1.5....0.4...1.07/1

So the stats are extremely close except in rebounding. It would seem the bigger need for the Blazers is at SF where Batum and Wright have easily been the least productive in terms of position. Given that Chandler can play the 2/3/4, it provides a lot of flexibility and gives a solid, productive option at the place where it is needed most.

Portland is loaded with options at SG as Dame slides over when Blake is in the game and CJ is showing signs of finally being more consistant. Barton is a change of pace guy and Crabbe is probably the best defender besides Wes. The options as SF are much thinner and usually involve going small and getting killed on the boards.

Given that their contract status is the same (both have a player option for next year per ShamSports) who do you think is the better fit for the Blazers?

Probably Chandler, but depends on who we give up for each of them.

thing is Afflalo can play SF as well. In Orlando I believe he played it almost 50% of the time. He plays bigger than his size, much like Wes. I'd probably choose Afflalo. Afflalo is the better shooter and gets to the line more. Chandler would be great too because of what you mentioned. He can guard 3 positions, has size, and can rebound. Either one is an upgrade.

Afflalo is a better player, but Chandler is a better fit for the blazers bench because of his versatility. I think Chandler has an extra year on his contract too. I'd be happy with either player though.

I like em both but Aflallo seems like the better offensive player. We need offense and a player that can score without assisted. I think Wilson requires a guard to give him the ball. Afflalo can get the ball at the top of the 3 and score on Iso

Afflalo/Chandler/Martin - they all have their pluses and minuses. For making a run at the championship THIS season I think it might be Martin > Chandler > Afflalo. Martin, I feel, would be the best off-the-bench offense of the bunch, and that's what we need the most. He has a skill set that nobody on our team has.
But Afflalo is, IMO, the best player of the three and gives us insurance in case Wes leaves (I don't think he will).
Chandler, OTOH, gives us a legit back-up at SF which is probably our biggest hole, which is the only reason I ranked him ahead of Afflalo for making a run this year.

Problem with Martin is he's strictly a 2. If you believe in McCollum and his development, it's not a move you would make.

Both Chandler and Afflalo. The problem is that TRob, Freeland, and a 1st rounder would be the key components of the deal (they'd also have to take an expiring Wright), and I'm not sure they'd want TRob as a key component since they already have Faried and Hickson.

I dont think the nuggets would care what else they got as long as it included a 1st round pick. Doesn't seem like any team is biting at that...yet

Yes, he's strictly a SG. I don't believe in McCollum's development - at least not to the point where I'm comfortable relying on him as our off-the-bench offense during the Playoffs. I think he'll be lucky to average 5+ppg during the Playoffs, whereas I think Martin could win us a game or two (and thus, possibly, a series or two) on his own.

I agree but after seeing Leonard develop I'm not sure I want to jump to a conclusion just yet when it comes to McCollum.

    Nuggets - Blazers - Pacers

    Nuggets trade Chandler, Afflalo, Gee
Nuggets get Robinson, Wright, Claver, Sloan, Blazers 2015 first round pick, Pacers 2015 and 2016 second round picks

Blazers trade Robinson, Wright, Claver, McCollum, 2015 first round pick
    Blazers get Chandler, Afflalo, Allen

Pacers trade Allen, Sloan, 2015 and 2016 second round picks
    Pacers get Gee, McCollum

Nuggets swap out two of the hottest trade deadline names for three draft picks and all expiring contracts.

Blazers grab three veteran defensive minded players to boost their bench and help them get to the finals this year.

Pacers swap out toe second round picks and some expiring contracts for the former lottery combo guard McCollum.

I don't think chandler AND afflalo is necessary. I'd prefer one of them getting 25ish minutes per night over each getting 12-15.

Denver probably wants TRob or Wright, CJ and a 1st round pick for either Chandler or Afflalo.

It's recency bias, but I wanna keep CJ and Leonard.

    TRob/Willy/Wright/etc can all go

Both of their advance metrics are virtually identical as well. From a fit, I like Chandler better. Backup SF is where our biggest need is. I also think Chandler is a much better defender than Afflalo (based on several resent games where I have been focusing on both players).

Contract wise, Afflalo has a player option next year (and thus might be essentially an expiring contract). Chandler's contract is a team option (or partially guaranteed) for next year. If push comes to shove in the Matthews negotiations, Portland could move Batum to SG and start Chandler at SF for next year. Or depending upon how long Batum's slump goes on - resign Matthews and trade Batum.

I could have sworn he was a SF in Sacramento

From what "insiders" are saying Den would be happy with FRP, but none of the teams interested in Afflalo and/or Chandler are willing to give that up when either of those guys can sign somewhere else after the season. If we're willing to give that pick up I doubt we'd have to part with TRob, Wright, and CJ as well.

I'd only give up both the pick and CJ if we were getting both Afflalo and Chandler. That does work (salary-wise), by the way--TRob/DW
    1/CJ/Vic/#1 for AA/WC/Gee.

    If only...

I wonder if all teams would say yes.

We send our first to Denver still.
