    Hello darkness, my old friend
Affalo used to be a really good defender, but he's dropped off significantly. Still at least average, potentially slightly above. But he's a two-way player, which is a great asset to have off the bench. Overall, a solid deal. First rounders are worth a fair amount these days, but Portland's is likely not to be that great, so it's a reasonable chip to deal away in a go-for-it move in a year where a title could mean a lot (more than normal)...for example, in convincing Aldridge to remain in Portland, potentially making Portland a place players are willing to give small hometown discounts right when guys might be pricing themselves out of Portland, etc.

We needed someone to take minutes from Batum, not Matthews. Chandler's 6-8 and Afflalo's 6-5.

I am really happy for Claver in all this. I think he needed a new start, and a team not going for the playoffs is somewhere were he should be able to get some PT.

Crabbe or Gee are probably the SF backups. Afflalo and Blake will spell Dame and Wes

I don't know about all you guys who are obsessed with inches. We needed scoring off the bench, and Afflalo is an elite shooter. Who care's if Chandler is 6-8, so is Dorell Wright. Matthews and Afflalo can play together.

Paul Allen has historically been willing to spend for a chance at a championship.

Unfortunately no with the new CBA. You used to be able to though. Remember when we grabbed Augman immediatey after he was waived?

I'm glad they changed the rule so that, I think, it's now only in season you can't re-sign. Right?

So once he's a FA in July, he can re-sign with Portland. Though, not sure there's a reason to.

I believe that rule came about because of Gary Payton being traded from Boston to Atlanta, then Atlanta waived him and he immediately resigned with Boston

Yes, except it's 1 calendar year if he's waived after being traded, or the date of the end of his contract, whichever comes first. So in TRob's case, yes, we could bring him back 7/10 if we were so inclined (which we won't be).

I think Chandler was a smokescreen for Afflalo.

Chandler's advanced numbers are horrid. The Clippers were hot after Afflalo as well.

Too bad. I wanted to see him and Hickson on the court at the same time.

Pretty amazing how far the 5th pick in the draft has fallen.

I wonder what team will sign him, or if he'll play overseas for a while.

I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to his hometown and sign with the Wizards.
