Last season he got his weight down to 275 lbs. He just reported to ST at 302 lbs.

Said CC, " I use to be able to roll out of bed & pitch 200 innings not its a little harder to do". Gee you fat out of shape bastard, I can't imagine why.

302? Well his center of gravity should be fine. Good lord!

If MLB used an old Chinese Calendar, then this would be the year of the Pig....!

From one years extreme to another. He obviously believes, he got into shape, lost more weight than normal last year, and could NOT find his fastball, amongst other things. Thus he believes by adding poundage, he can improve the velocity on his fastball?

He'll have to depend on his fork ball, since that's all he seems to know these days, eating utensils; or what time Dinner is Served.

If memory serves, didn't the last time he drop weight, his performance drastically deteriorated?

The losing weight never helped so maybe eating more burgers will translate into better numbers.

And btw: all, I was wrong (yeah I know its a rarity) his weight didn't go from 275 to 302. Actually it went from 275 to 305. But like Vic said maybe the extra weight will help.

...I can't remember a pitcher who got worse just because of weight gain...seems like CC pitched better when he was big and fluffy...Schilling wasn't exactly svelte...Wells or Colon either...I'm sure there are more.

1968 World Series, Mc Lain was supposed to be the "ace: but it was portly Mickey Lolich getting the job done for his team. That series was special for me, Al Kaline was always one of my favorite players and I was glad to see him get a ring.

As a kid Detroit was always a fun team to watch with of course Kaline but also Willie Horton, Bill Freeham, Jim Northrup, Norm Cash & Dick McAuliffe

Agree, and CC isn't a spring chicken and has a lot of mileage on him.
I have a novel suggestion, why don't we just wait and see (part of Cashman's "plan") how he responds and adjusts to this next phase of his career?
I know, I know....most of the jury has already rendered its verdict.
But this case isn't over yet. lol
