His show used to entertain me. I always knew he was a phony, who didn't?

Bill Maher's Twitter profile picture sums him up pretty succinctly.

    O'Reilly isn't a network news anchor. He's a talk show host.

    Slight difference /sarcasm

that some how excuses his complete lack of integrity or method of rebuttal? fox thought it important enough to allow him to spin his lies on other shows/interviews to protect its investment.

He's not a news anchor. He's allowed to lie like any other talk show host on MSNBC does, or politicians do.

Williams held one of the three most important and influential NEWS anchor positions. You're supposed to be able to trust the evening news, and the fourth estate is supposed to be trusted to expose government crimes.

I like Williams a lot better than O'Reilly. I think they should have done nothing to him or banned him for life; not the in between thing they did. Either he's trustworthy and reliable enough to anchor or he's not.

do you feel that it damages the fox news integrity if they continue to allow their top fox channel news reporters to engage o'rielly in his "top story" segment on which they are frequent guests?

No. In fact, he has guests, Williams does not. That's the difference :)

Why not? Maher has his show, and he's guilty of worse.

maher's integrity is an issue how? he is show is not syndicated on any news channels as far as I know. o'rielly factor is syndicated on the fox news channel in my opinion directly linking him to the news bureau. I feel appropriate punishment, probably cancel his contract if allegations are proven and no acknowledgement of his complicity. to have no repricussions by fox damages other shows integrity. guilt by association and truthfulness or at least, perception of truthfulness is the hallmark of reporting the news.

I don't watch his show, but I do know the difference between a news anchor and a talk show host.

The guy behind the smear on O'Reilly is a talking head guest on MSNBC. That's competition that's losing horribly to Fox and O'Reilly.

Plus, O'Reilly's explanations about his war coverage are sufficient. It's not like a dozen eye witnesses are refuting some claim of heroic bravery.

I agree with the sentiment that his show isn't as fair and balanced as he pretends. But since it is OPINIONS, he has a lot of leeway.

Dan Rather is still a news anchor somewhere, in spite of a deliberately false hit piece he aired while CBS News anchor. You don't see David Corn squawking about that. Go figure.

Isn't it all mostly lies regardless? Anyone who watches modern day news is getting fed anyway.

    it's not all lies.

If congress is working on passing a bill and the news says they're working on passing a bill, that's true :)
