Not too crazy about this move. He stinks offensively .. How does him on the 3rd line improve the offense
Him or Letestu would work. Sheppard is a combo winger/C. Letestu is a righty shot which I like. I would take either one.
I am good with it. 267 and 267 on faceoffs, so 50% not bad. 4th most faceoffs on the team. Doesn't score much, like a 7 or so goal 20 or so point guy. But has size at 6'1" and 205 lbs. 9th pick in 2006 draft. Better fit than Stemp IMO. Adds more size and grit. I bet plays on the 4th line with Fast and Moore. Has to mean Glass is on the bench every game, and thank god. Sheppard can bump up and take some FO's when needed.
Doesnt appear that he kills penalties, but the size and faceoff ability is the main thing. I also assume he'll play with Moore and Fast, meaning JT has won his spot in the top 9.
With Fast back for the PK, I think we feel good there. Fast, Hags, Moore, Step, Nash. Nice 5 PK forwards. Is AV really going to scratch Glass every game...wow...LOL.
In the regular season probably not, but come playoff time he fucking BETTER. Not even the Pens were dumb enough to let him see real playoff minutes.
The Rangers have acquired James Sheppard from San Jose for a 4th round pick in 2016. (Dreger) Sheppard, 26, has 5 goals and 11 assist this season for the Sharks. His cap hit is $1.3 million. (HR) He was the 9th overall pick of Minnesota in 2006 and has 24 games of playoff experience in his career. San Jose is retaining some of Sheppard’s salary. (LeBrun on TSN) He is 50% on faceoffs this season, winning and losing 267 each. He has 93 shots on goal, 36 blocked shots, 30 giveaways and 39 takeaways in 13:43 per game. Sheppard has 380 games of experience, 21 goals and 68 assists in his career. He is 6-1, 215.
Us and Montreal are the teams to beat in the East. I think 1 and 1A...dropoff to the next group. I will say it right now, the one team in the Met I rather avoid, especially in round 1, is the Caps. The one team in the East I don't want to play is Montreal (which would be the ECF). LONG way off, but I don't like a few things about that possible series. That's how I see it. BTW...no Sheppard tonight...travel (and AV man love for Glass). Yandle is in...# 93.
I agree on Montreal. I know they beat them last year but it helped not having Price in there. Price playing us at home is very difficult (especially given Hanks history at Bell). Montreal especially if they get the 1 seed is prob the one team I don't want the Rangers to play and I know we have sucked vs TB head to head
I just think revenge, Price playing great, and simply put a real good team is why Montreal would concern me if we got them in the ECF. I rather play TB. And while I think we'd beat all the teams in the Met, the Caps "concern" me the most.
