Actually, Gasol's PER is 22, and he also puts up 3.7 assists and 1.7 blocks per game, fully double what Laimbeer did in either. Again, rebounds are the only category where Laimbeer had better numbers. Using only one category to say (in your words) that "Gasol doesn't even come close to Laimbeer statistically", and then ignoring all the rest where Gasol is superior, is absolutely (in my words) "silly".

See, that clearly demonstrates the irrational nature of your arguments. However, we love you for you irrational-ness (not a word, I know), not in spite of it.

But surely if you were being objective, you would have to admit that if Gasol's rebounding figures make him soft now, then Aldridge's from two years ago which are even lower would have to mean the same thing.

Why is Teague ahead of Aldridge and Lillard but Curry isn't?

Oh, and you're joking about Udrih, right?

Any list that omits Beno Udrih is clearly invalid.

No what's silly is to believe that gasol could win MVP, which was the entire concept of discussion. As I said for the third time. In the last 20 years, there have been 3 centers that won MVP, 4 if you want to include Duncan as a center. And of those 4 players, gasol' advanced and raw numbers are laughable compared to theirs.

    End of discussion...

Except...that's not at all what I was discussing. I never made that claim, and your disagreement with that claim was not the source of my reply to you.

You really should learn how to keep your arguments straight.

Nope, you were replying only to a portion of what I replied to the guy that thinks Gasol is a deserving MVP.

I guess cherry picking small sections of complete topics is part of your debating tactics, I replied to the entire response, you just replied to one.

Well at least you agree that the argument of Gasol being a deserving MVP being silly is a good start

It's not a debating tactic...it was the start of an entirely new debate. You made a claim; I dismantled your claim.

However, you should be aware that "cherry-picking" topics absolutely is a valid debating tactic. Any argument is only as valid as its components. If the individual components are compromised, the overall argument suffers and eventually crumbles. If your claim of Laimbeer's statistical superiority to Gasol is actually a component of your argument against Gasol as a legitimate MVP candidate, then it would absolutely be reasonable to attack and refute that claim.

Basically, the first rule of debate is "don't make a claim you're unwilling/unable to defend." Try as you might, you are absolutely unable to defend the claim that Gasol "doesn't even come close to Laimbeer statistically."

It's OK; you can admit that you were wrong. I won't judge you.

As compared to Curry, Harden, and LeBron, absolutely.

    And Aldridge...

Or David Robinson, shaq or Hakeem even more so.

Looks like we can easily agree then! :)

IMO, prior seasons' MVP's statistics have no bearing on the current season's MVP race. Each season stands alone.

It's arguable that Gasol is more valuable to the Grizzlies than Aldridge is to the Blazers.

Woah woah woah. Lets not get into that. We are a lottery team without LA. Id just go with Memphis without Gasol is just like us without LA

I think Memphis is even worse, we would be a 40-42 win team without LA but we have Dame still who is a legit top 15 player, besides Gasol who does Memphis have? Z-bo? Conley?
