I am so depressed about this. Pretty much ruined my night even with the win. CJs got his chance to step up now.
No ifs, I don't want to play that game with Wes. Will see ya next year Wes. It'll be a boost when you comeback for us.
My heart goes out to Wes. He'll recover as quickly as anyone could. Good thing we signed Gee and Afflalo. CJ was playing well before the trade. Crabbe is serviceable..we'll be ok. Wes will rock the Patty Mills towel waive in a suit for the playoffs.
I think it's important to fill the roster but outside of Ray Allen coming here which he won't I am happy with what we got to fill in at the 2 guard. So I think we should fill it just in case but with another position like 3rd string PG
in before someone makes a snide comment that they traded for them, not signed... I do think that the first game Wesley is back in the RG, will be a huge ovation.
I heard it on the way home... literally, I'm not kidding you... time slowed down. My surroundings were crawling by me. That news hit like a ton of bricks. Believe you me, the first home game Wes comes back on, I'll be there. That's going to be a special, special moment. Lets play with the fire of Wes!!!
I'm in shock and denial. I just don't see this hurting us in terms of title chances. What I feel bad for is Wes. For this to happen in his contract year really sucks. Dammit. 10 months will fly by though and hopefully, he'll have a good situation to return to, be it for us or the Knicks.
Wes really was the heart of this team. If anyone can come back from this even stronger it's Wes Mathews.
Wes will impact the team still, just in a different way. You best believe he is gonna be like having another coach.
A pop, and Wesley Matthews is lost for the season, changing everything for the Trail Blazers http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...p_and_wesley_matthews_is_lost_for_the_se.html
I hope we resign Wes long term. Obviously the market will not value him as much so maybe we can keep our starters together; keep AAA and have at least full MLE money if not more for another player. I don't think another team will pay Wes $10 million a season when injured so if we can sign him for something in the neighborhood of $8 million for 5 years that would be awesome from a cap management perspective. I feel bad for Wes personally this is definitely costing him millions. There is some risk he will have complications from the injury so if he wants a long deal he will have to accept some sort of a discount. If Wes really wants to risk it he could try to prove he is healthy and aim for a $15+ million per year contract when the cap goes up in the summer of 2016. But that is an awfully big risk for him and with achillies rehab lasting at least the first part of next season and his age approaching 30 that would probably be a bad idea. I'd rather see him just stay with the Blazers long term. Even if he loses a bit of his athleticism permanently he'll always be a great backup.
