He has a good game every couple weeks (yes, I saw his 4-4 from 3 against Memphis), but overall, he's basically been a net negative. I'm tired of seeing him out there every game, and I haven't been impressed with his contributions. I think it's time to replace him in the reserve corps with CJ. Yes, I know that CJ isn't a point guard--I would want Nic to be out there with him--but I'd rather see him develop than see Blake's inaccurate push 3 and his inexplicable turnovers. And don't talk to me about his defense. His defensive metrics are no better than CJ's.

I think if Stotts would bring CJ in for Dame halfway through the 1st & 3rd quarters, and give him 12 mpg as the faux-backup-PG with Nic actually handling most of the distribution duties, and we'd be a better team overall. Blake was a nice idea, but I'm done with him.

I doubt that I've ever disagreed with anything you've posted as much as I disagree with this. And, especially in light of the loss of Wes last night, the idea of taking a proven veteran out of the equation just doesn't make sense. Taking him out and replacing him with a guy who isn't really even a PG...not going to happen.

Wow dude really? This has been my favorite iteration of Steve Blake ever. He plays hard nosed D, takes well care of the ball, and only shoots when he has to or is open.

I usually don't have a problem with Blake. I don't expect much from him. The problem is that he has virtually zero offensive game. He is not a threat on offense at all right now. I would have been completely content with him hitting a couple threes a game. I would have been happy with 6 points or so off the bench and steady ball handling. I'm just not seeing it.

Nolan was never, ever, ever a point guard.

    Ever.

With the advent of Wes's injury, it is likely that Blake will get MORE minutes.

Wait. You wrote this AFTER Wes went down?

    Seriously?

With Afflalo coming off the bench we had enough shooters in the game that were playing with him. He shot when he was open. I have no problem with that. He has been deferring to others.

It's not like we have another PG on the roster.......

I chalk it up to whatever "medication" he took to ease the pain of Wes's loss.

Lol @ playing CJ at PG. Steve Blake has a role and he plays that role. His job isn't to shoot 10 times a game. His job is to run the 2nd unit efficiently and play solid D. He might not be shooting the greatest but opposing teams do have to respect his shot and he has also hit some big shots for us this year. He's a role player playing his role.

Blake has been doing fine. I'd like to see him make better shot/pass decisions, like when he drives into the lane and nobody stops him and he passes out to a covered shooter instead of taking an 8-footer.

Wes' presence or absence have no bearing on PG play. Likely, Afflalo will move into Wes' role, and Gee into Afflalo's, which means less offensive firepower off the bench. CJ was coming into his own prior to the all-star break; he could be the second scorer off the bench that we need. I don't see Blake's "veteran presence" making the team better.

Again, his hard-nosed D results in defensive numbers that are no better than CJ's, and he has the highest turnover percentage on the team (aside from Gee, who just got here). CJ's a better player.

    Pretty much this.

Blake's job is to start offense, and get people scores. Only scoring when he has to.

Like I said, I don't expect much from him. I just want to see SOMETHING. He seems completely opposed to shooting.

Or, it gives unhappy people in this forum somewhere else to direct their frustration. Now, all of you can tell your buddies, "Can you believe what this guy said today?!"

However, everything I'm saying is completely true. We've lost bench scoring because we're moving Afflalo into the starting lineup; replacing Blake with CJ could counteract that, and give him the burn that he had earned prior to the all-star break.

I'd like to see CJ's numbers with and without Blake on the court with him. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that more often than not, when CJ has done well in a game, it was alongside Steve...

Nate Robinson... Sparkplug, familiar with Gee and Afllalo, and was actually playing more efficiently than Blake.

Good question, and possibly a valid point. I'd also like to see his numbers at the PG position alongside Nic. Oh, wait, there probably aren't any...

I'd absolutely be in favor of that too.
