...Rosie...the openly gay lesbian?...I can see why a man would not find her attractive but I don't get why another woman would find her attractive either.
At this point of Yankeedom the only chance of Gardner ever being named captain is if he (as soon as possible lol) starts putting together a few/some very good seasons AND helps the Yanks win at least one or more WS. Then after that, I can see his name being brought up as a possible new "Captain". Otherwise, it's not going to happen.
...during the years of 1947 to 1964 which were probably the best Yanx dynasty ever, they won 10 World Series titles and 15 pennants...without a "captain". ...the Yanx won exactly ONE WS title with Jeter as "captain".
They didn't have a captain during the 40s, (DiMaggio) The 50s & the 60s (Mantle) and yet went to 18 world series winning 12 of them. So the team doesn't NEED a captain.
I'm just basing this on what I've read back in 2013 when Jeter was out and away from the team. Gardner was reported to have ask Jeter to act in his behalf regarding clubhouse leadership. Girardi was reported to have also commented on Gardy stepping in and up, etc. Watching games last year he stayed pretty close to the Captain. I'm just interpreting observations and info out there like this: http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/2015/03/06/111498206/
No need for a captain at the current time or anytime soon for that matter. Baseball is not a sport where it's even needed.
...uhhhh, no, no you didn't...but if it makes you feel better believing that, whatever. What do you expect Girardi to say, that Gardner comes up short as far as being vocal and that he's not "respected? I'm sure the same is true with a few others in the clubhouse...but that's still a far cry from actually being named "captain". ...no one has said that Godner is not a good player but you said Godner will be Cap...myself and others disagree, and that alone is the crux of this argument...and surely even you must be aware that there's a difference between "A leader in the clubhouse" and being "THE leader in the clubhouse"...(you're assuming there can only 1 leadership role on a team)...yet you claim that you "blew me out of the water" with some vague and obscure article?...yeah, that seals it....lmao. ...nowhere in that article does Girardi or Cash or the Steins recognize Godner as the lone "leader in the clubhouse", much less being a candidate for captain... nice try though. Besides, Girardi has already said before that he doesn't really believe in the philosophy of having "that one guy" as the leader. ...if you'd actually like to wager some cash on Godner becoming the captain, I'll oblige....otherwise, well, you know.
I don't foresee having a Yankee Captain over the next decade, maybe 2. I can't take an ounce of talk, over Gardner ever being Captain of His Poker Team, Volleyball Team, and sure as hell not as a Yanx Captain, never.....!!!
That may be true, but I don't think Jeter will be the lest. It may be 10-20 years, but I don't think Jeter is last
Oh I don't think he'll be the last either, I just don't see it happening or even necessary for many years to come.
...I think it should obviously be a home grown player with the same character traits and charisma as the others.
