I hope we extend him, give him a 3/33. 11 a year is nothing for a good role player, especially when the cap is gonna be 90+ mil
Amigo we can "just sayin" a boatload of stuff, and I really do hope we get there! We all can and do express our opinions/hopes here. I hope we go deep this year, without Wes it will definitely be more difficult, and how Nic performs the rest of the year ad especially in the playoffs might determine whether or not he's here next year. just my opinion
If the USA invades France there won't be a Team France and Batum isn't good enough to play on Team USA. Problem solved.
Wow you are so right. My whole point of posting the article is that I am tired of Batum's inconsistent play, coming to training camp already tired and his body not rested, and most importantly he brings his game when he wants to bring it. Don't get me wrong when he brings it therest is no one better at the SF position. But how often is that. If he played consistently at least 80% of the time like the other four start do, it would be a no brainer. But he has not played consistently at least 50% of the time and that is for past years as well. Some replied he owns a Franchise in France. Guess where he got the money? His big fat contract that he has not earned. Next contract should be heavy performance bsse If he is still hear.
You're worth what someone will pay you. To me that's earning it. Living up to it is a different story.
Should Aldridge Shut Down the Season? 87 byDave Deckard,Blazer's EdgeMar 24, 2015, 4:59a The Blazers have been hit by several injuries in the last three weeks, ranging from nagging to season-ending. At what point do they start advising players to shut it down? Great article today about the injuries, one thing that stands out to me is when Dave stated: "Nicolas Batum has appeared in 61 of Portland's 68 games this season but is suffering through the worst offensive slump of his career. His poor performance has been blamed on a combination of fatigue and injury." And yet he wants to play in France this summer. He is not committed to Portland except for a paycheck.
Batum would merely have sat out a long time ago if that was true (he gets his check regardless). In fact, many fans were calling for him to rest and he powered through the injury instead. To me that shows he is in fact very committed to this team (even perhaps stupidly - is that a word?).
He's costing himself tens of millions of dollars. If he had been rested and healthy his production would be much higher and he'd be in line for a larger contract next summer. If playing basketball is more important to Batum than money I have a hard time faulting the man.
Batum should be the first person that Olshey moves. With CJ, and Aaron we have quality there. Yes Aaron optped out, however Olshey can sign him back. Move Batum for draft picks. He is more committed to the French National Team then he is the Blazers.
Up until this past season Batum has improved every year. His game has exploded under Stotts. I'm not ready to write him off after one bad season. He's harder to replace than you think.
You know, people should be mad when we make the playoffs. It's much easier on a player's body to rest rather than keep playing. A finals run is MUCH harder on a player than a few games in some international competition. Tim Duncan has probably played at least a whole season extra of playoff games. So we should wish to avoid the post season so that our players are fresh for the next season.
Whuh!! You talking about BATUM? The guy who never rose to his rookie potential? What the Hades! Are these explosions in your head?
+> Mmmmm. A paradox. The goal of every owner and team is playoffs and revenue. The playoffs are more relevent than an 82 game season due to better teams and fan participation. However, to pay out millions for players that 82 game plan is necessary. I liked Popovich's idea of resting players. Avoiding post season would not allow players to be fresh for the new season. However, more teams and more playoff games with subtraction of a section of regular season games is an idea I would toss around.
Batum has a name worthy of a multiplayer trade. If LA is out I think retool includes Batum. For acquistion of a player on LA's level and a good second team SF, his name may come up as an asset.
I just don't get this. First of all, neither of those players can play SF except for maybe spot minutes. Second, what player are people watching when they say that Afflalo is "quality"? Look at his numbers this year, not even just as a Blazer. He pretty much sucks. He's not even an AVERAGE NBA player. Third, how many times do I have to say it? Batum is essentially our PG. The only forwards to average more assists than him are LeBron and Blake Griffin. If you're going to replace Batum with either of those, then I guess I won't complain. So: he's a six-foot-eight PG who guards PGs better than any small player on our roster. Find a player like that and you don't need Batum. As it is, he may be the most irreplaceable player on our roster.
Who cares, he sucks anyway. Fuck off Nic Batum. I said from the beginning he got too much money, I was never sold on his "potential" because I see how 95% of the time that doesn't play out.
