Hey Rick, we should make this a Monday Morn affair, much like Giambino's Morning Post on the BSPN Boards....
Here's a pic of two New Style of American Snipers, cross training and multi-tasking: Is there anything a German Shepherd Dog (GSD) Can Not Do?
LOL. the previous Pic is "Little Feats" First LP, with Ry Cooder on 3 tracks.... this pic is a view from my back yard....now that were settled in. I've got a Wolf Compound and Wolf Rescue just 12 miles down the dirt road. Honestly a treat, I've never had fear of wolves in packs or solo.....I must of been a Grizzly Bear in a previous life. I've never heard of wolves bringing down a bear, I've heard of Akita's doing as much, a few others like the Tibetan Mastiff, will not think twice about attacking a Bear, let alone a Human. There's others, bred to protect individuals from Bears, but you rarely if ever, hear of a Grizzly or Kodiak held at bay by a group of dogs, almost always a Black or Brown Bear, a docile creature in comparison.....We took a ride to the Wolf Compound, and plan on working with the caretaker owners of the compound. Some of their rescues are skittish as hell, the others are quit docile, enough to pet..... This Pic was just developed by a buddy of mine, a pro-photographer I am not..... This is the North Side of Mt., Baldy which you see the south side of Baldy during every Rose Parade, and Rose Bowl....only 30 minutes by car to its parking lot and Summit Campground....connects with the Pacific Crest Trail....
While in class at the MGM Studios the Little Rascals were asked by their teacher who could used the word dictate in a sentence. At once hands were thrown in the air with ooh, ooh teacher I know, I know voiced in. The teacher called on Darla who answered " when I become a secretary my boss will dictate letters that I shall copy." The teacher said very well Darla, who else can give us a sentence using the word dictate. Again hands were thrown in the air, with ooh, ooh teacher I know I know voiced in. The teacher then called on Alfalfa who said, "When I become a man no one will dictate my lifestyle. The teacher said very well Alfalfa. Now who can give us one more sentence using the word dictate. Again hands rose, ooh, ooh, teacher call on me. The teacher said very well Buckwheat, what is your sentence, Buckwheat rose, smiled and said, "My girlfriend say my dictate awful good.
You are insanely lucky to have that kind of view... nice Joshua tree in the foreground by the way! I recall a camping trip to Canada with my dad close to 20 years ago when we got to our campsite incredibly late after a LONG day of canoeing and portaging... and set up our tent in the dark/light of the campfire while being serenaded by a pack of wolves... Such an AMAZING memory.... But that view is breathtaking!
why Thanks Hammer...... On the smaller 10 acre plot we bought, there's approx. 80+ Joshua Trees on the land. An interesting eco environment, as the land has the Mojave Desert, integrating with the Mountain range flora, sage brushes to great Pines. Desert Rattlesnakes to Bear....et al....its only the Cougars that make my hair raise tho', even then, they too are afraid of man and seek to flee in lieu of fight or flee...... When I was a young man, years before I got married. I spent weeks hiking, repelling, climbing, fishing, but moreso simply camping and watching the Wild Life pass by in this area, the North rim of the San Gabriel Mts. This pic is taken at 3,800 some feet. There's a great morning Cafe just a few miles up into the Mts. at a Mile High, bears the name Mile High Cafe. Nothing like the smell of wild Pines, Blue Spruce, with Bacon and Eggs. Decent fishing within 20 minutes, stocked of course..... Mt. Baldy is the Mt. halfway covered with cloud cover, (snowed up there that day), which is a bit over 10,000 feet. A great view up there, with Mt. Baden Powell, (as you know named after the founder of the Boy Scouts). Powell is about 8,900 feet high. Not only can one see Pasadena from the tops of these Mts. You can look down on downtown L.A. where it looks much smaller than a miniature tinker toy city. One can see Catalina Island clear as day off the coast, or turn North, and see Mount Whitney and the High Sierra Nevada range, with the EAFB Dry Lakes to the East of the Sierra NV. On a clear day. The One and Most important (perhaps), thing I failed to mention about this San Gabriel range, is it was uplifted, created by, and is home to the San Andreas Fault, not but 20 miles away. But hell, if it goes, this state is in deep shit, and 20 miles or 400 aren't going to much matter.
If I'm ever out there, I'll have to check it out as it looks like heaven.... I've never heard of a cougar choosing flight over fight... Very cool
It is picturesque, quiet as quiet gets. Yet, being on the fringes of the Desert, and Foothills, brings on some wicked high dirt storm winds. Within 24 hours, (much like in KS), the day can go from 75 degrees, sunny warm, not a cloud in the sky, with snow falling the next morn. The only time, I've seen a Cougar not take flight, (just like the Gators in Luzianna), is when one approaches a Den with Cubs in it. Then its fight to the deadly end, and I'd be the one flying....LMAO..... Tho' the Cougars do like to peek in from places where they camouflage well into, hiding with Stealth in the Shrubs, or granite rocks..... In my case....upon being sighted, often a Cougar will go into hiding, usually out here; that's the case. Yet, one rarely or never knows, where they went hiding too, and could still be in their midst, and not even know it.... I once climbed a short 100 foot cliff, as soon as I peeked above the flat cliff top, a Bighorn Ram, had its head down ready to punt my ass with its horns. He startled the SHIT Out of me, and I went down the cliff asap, but I also startled him to my dismay. By the time I reached the bottom, that Bighorn Ram, had his Mate and baby with him, crossing a shallow creek, about 200 feet downstream. That one took the breathe out of me....a wonder I held on, and didn't take the quick way down.....
A preacher not very well liked by his congregation, climbed into the pulpit for Sunday Services, and announced that he'd be leaving due to a transfer to another church. He said, "the same Jesus who placed me in this church has chosen to place me in another. At that time the choir broke into a rendition of "What a friend we have in Jesus"
